Why not do a S1 L67 swap?

Hey everybody! Newbie here, glad to be a part of the community!

I have a '93 Z-24 and I was wondering if there are any huge problems with swapping my stock 3.1L out to a Supercharged Series I Buick motor?

My computer will run it as long as I ditch the MAF system and put in a 2-bar MAP.

Are there fitment issues other than fabbing up a couple mounts?

Found a 11 second Fiero running one, so it has to fly IMO.......................

Do it. And use an AWD Pontiac transmission. I've see it done in a Sunbird before with a series II.

god that has to be a beast. making AWD would eliminate traction problems. what pontiac AWD transmission are you referring to? as in Pontiac 6000 STE, those have to be rare by now. how do you make the rear drivetrain work, you have to somehow mount CV axles and all related hardware. that has to be some major modifications, but you would have a one of a kind sleeper. subarus would never see you coming lol

they should have made a factory freak Jbody. that would have been cool. it could have been a limited production special edition

I agree! It would have been a great tech. demonstrator!

I'm gonna do it. It's been hectic lately so all I have done is procure a series 1 L67 from a junkyard.

At the least, I will get a limited slip for my transaxle.

Any suggestions? The only one I know of is here...

Or use an insert. TeamGreen is the best bang for the buck.

Well I have done this swap using a 3800 series 2 na, a 5 speed from a lumina z34, a turned down flywheel from a camaro, a reworked camaro wiring harness and ecm, I also modded but he front motor mount from a 3.3L Buick century.

This was a very fun car to drive, but traction under full throttle was almost non existent, and there was a bit more understeer to deal with.
Ran 8.90 in the 1/8th mile on drag radials on a soft take off.

So this is a very doable, and very fun project, just be prepared to do a little fab work and mix match of parts.

Also your ecm will have to be tuned to run that engine, along with possible modifications. The 3800 is sequintial fuel injection, while i believe the 3.1 may be batch fire.
