Putting Air Ride on the Cavalier in the next month and gonna upgrade the 18s to some 19s. I am wondering the best offset to get to allow the car to stil drop and not rub at all!
It depends on the width of the rim and of the tire you put on there. This is really a wheel & tire question.
You can get 40 to work, rolling fenders is highly advised. 45 should be ok, 48 as well.
Note that you may rub on the inside if you lock the steering hardover.
search the wheel and tire forum. theres a whole thread about this
mine are 35mm offset on 19x8's, the fender lips are cut off up front, I can roll ALL THE WAY DOWN at 0psi in the front, the rear will rub around 30psi or lower

Thanks James. BTW: Your car looks real nice. Not a super whole lot done, but everything done real clean.
So in the front does it rub at all when you turn the wheel?
I've got air ride on my ride running 18" with 45 offest. For most part you will have to roll your fenders. You will also have to make sure that your car is always aligned if not, cambering inward at the top. the tire will rub on the inside of the wheel well. You won't know it until you're running flat, have a hard time jacking up your caron the side of the road, and finding out that the steal brades is sticking out of your tire.
Nearow tires would work 6.5 - 7.0. Have fun trying to find the size and style that u want in 19

sorry it has been so long, if the wheel is turned ALL THE WAY and at 0 psi the tread on the tire hits the inner fender slightly. But I never turn and hold the wheels all the way.
