Ok i wondering which ones are best for still having a firmer ride but not dash pounding....
I had the Koni Yellows with Ground Control Coil overs but i had a chance now to get new ones almost for free but i dont know which ones to get
I want a nice firm ride, but also like to occationaly turn my konis up (stiffer) and rip around the corners and what not also i like to change it up for drag racing and have the rear really firm and the front softer
now which of these do you think would work best
- Gravanas set up
- Tein Super Street or Tein Basic Damper Kit
- KW 35261004 (they are on gravanatuning web site)
- Tokiko D-Spec Adjustable
- Tein Spring Tokico D-Spec Combo
let me know what you think about them if you have them ...

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

Right now with gravana and tein ss there pretty much equal except tein has the edfic controller and gravana doesn't yet and prob never will.

what are the pillow mounts?
and that edfic control you mentioned.. thats the controler so you can adjust them as you go just from in the car right?

yeah the EDFC is the Electronic Damping Force Controler....and yes it allows you to adjust on the go. I would say get the Tein SS's because they can be found cheaper then the Gravanas and come w/ the Pillow ball mounts. The EDFC is extra but it sounds like you would put it to use. Good luck.

i dont know im kind of leaning towards the Gravana Set up... after having the Koni Yellow set up wit Ground controls .. i want somthing that i KNOW was tested on a Jbody... i can tell you for sure the GC coil overs were not test on a Jbody, but rather given spec for the springs from a similar car ... Where as the Gravana set up was tested and designed for the Jbody so every thing is going to be set up properly...
The electric controler does sound nice and all but i didnt find it much of a pain to pop the hood adjust them , pop the trunk and adjust them and go...

I've got the teins w/ EDFC and its awesome....I'll never go to anything else. IMO there better than gravanas because lots of people on here have the teins and I've never heard one person have any problems with them.
Its totally tein SS ftw!!! no question

Personally I would go with the TEIN name, if not just for all the positive reviews on this forum for the SS's.

i would go gravanas properly setup rides amazing, my car has no wheel gap up front and 1/2 gap in the back and my car is smooth and handles amazing, damn close to how my cobalt handled around corners

Gravanas + pillow mounts = 1395
Tein SS's = 1295
with only 100 dollars of a difference its up to you really, both do pretty much identical things and outside of the Teins being 100 dollars cheaper you have the EDFC option...
From an engineering stand point I like the Gravana's better than the Tein SS. You can adjust the ride height without affecting the strut travel so you don't have worry about blown struts from slamming your car down low.
I was waiting for Jim to come out with pillowball mounts and an EDFC but couldn't wait any longer. With the way my backseat delete and tonneau cover are setup it's all but impossible to get to the rear shocks to adjust them by hand so I opted for the Tein SS's and the EDFC so I can adjust with the touch of a button from the drivers seat.
If anyone is looking for a set of Gravana's mine are listed in the classifieds...

Josh, the Teins were tested on a J-body. They were not just designed through engineering math. I've had both the Tein type Basics and the Super Streets with the pillow-ball upper mounts. These are great coil-overs. I'm sure Gravana's setup is great as well, they look very professional.
As for the double adjustability of Gravana's setup, I'm sure it works great but I can bet you that Tein wouldn't have made the perch threads as long as they did if the struts couldn't handle the travel.
And I'm looking forward to getting the EDFC. Sometimes you just want a smoother ride without walking around to all four corners of the car.
Hey Cherubim, how did you like the basics? I mean i know they should be pretty good coming from Tein but was there anything about them that you didnt like or rather are there any flaws in them that is serious enough to spend the extra on the gravanas or SS's?
I won't lie, the Tein type Basic dampers are unforgiving. They are pretty firm in damping, so if you live somewhere where the roads arn't great you'll want Gravana's setup or Tein's Super Street dampers. Between my two sets I can also tell you that the type Basics don't seem to allow spring pre-loading like the Super Streets do though I could be wrong. Also the Super Street's perch threads extend lower than the type Basics, meaning you might be able to squeeze an extra half an inch of lowering out of them. A great suspension though, I put my type Basics through hell across country in a loaded car twice and they were just fine. Another .org member has my old type Basics now and he seems happy with them.
Thanks a lot man. Ill be getting some light weight 16s here over winter and im looking for a drop low enough so that there isnt much wheel gap left. I would love to have the gravanas or the SS's but if the basics were what i was looking for i would have gotten them because of the price of the other two. thanks for the help.
Oh yeah and Cherubim, do you have any pics of the car lowered on the basics...i searched but all the pics came up as red x's...thanks alot again man.
do you have any side shots of them on the 16s? im mainly concerned w/ the drop on the back.
Thank you very much for that pic...you've sold me. Nice clean car by the way i love it. is that at the reccomended tein height...either way thank you very much for you help.
The rears were at their maximum low for that. I drove the car forever like that and never had any problems. Great dampers.
anthony buy garys gravanas... you can ride with no gap smooth
