Mounting of Tank for Air Ride

Wondering if anyone has tried or if it is possible to mount any size air tanks under the car instead of in the trunk.

I am working on the cars trunk design and the car is up at the shop right now so I cant look under the car to justify if it would work. I have Dual Exhaust and need to know if any size tank or even 2 small tanks will fit under the car. Any ideas?

im sure you can. they make small pancake shaped tanks that i believe are 3 gallons.

Thanks bagged. Ill look into those. Just running out of room in the trunk with the system and now sure the tank is gonna have any room at all.

Know anywhere that sells the pancake model?

check ebay i believe thats where i saw it or maybe jason can get it for you. if you want you can mount a tank upside down on the bottom of the rear deck like esb did and he had plenty of room in the trunk.

you could probably use a typical 5gal if you mount it on the side of the spare tire well on the underside. Not sure if you have enough room between the bumper and spare tire well, but it's worth a shot if you have a 5 gal to mock up with.

I have an aftermarket bumper on there, so that might be an option. Get one of those real skinny long ones and make some new brackets to mount it if there is room.

I'll go attempt to get my 5gal in there as soon as I finish these white castle fries...... chewing chewing.....

checking......

nope. don't work. I don't even think with a aftermarket bumper it would work.

Cool Deal! If you have two 5 gallon tanks under the car then I am sure I can get one under there. Have a pancake on the way anyways. If anything I can use it on my xB spare tire well if we are able to get the tank under the car. Thanks again guys on the info.

this is how I have mine mounted. It's on a 1/4 MDF false floor, covered in Fur. Should cut down vibrations from the compressor, and have the 1/4 silicone washers over the compressor screws.

That picture was taken before I bolted anything down, so thats why the bolts/screws appear to be MIA.
