I have a 2005 Sunfire..I was going to buy just a rear sway bar some people have told me to buy both front and rear sway bars...I have here about a factory front sway bar FE3...So I checked out my build decal and seen FE1 &FE9..So any help would be great...Also is running a rear sway bar with factor front one a good idea or should I just go out and buy a set..Thanks..Jason
you could always take a micrometer and measure it
I could I was just wondering if anyone could help me out before I do that..Thanks.
well I don't think FE9 was a suspension option so my quess is its the FE1 suspension. if I remeber right the choices are FE0, FE1, FE2, & FE3
FE-1 I always assumed was a 19MM bar, I have a FE-1 Sway bar sitting here next to me.
2009 Ford Mustang V6
FE9 is ABS IIRC. FE0 to FE3 are the performance packages (03+ only).
You have FE1 which is the 19mm front bar, and no rear axle insert.
ok thanks for the info..So will running just a rear sway bar be enough or should I buy a set and do the front and rear..Thanks
if you do just a rear your gonna have some serious control issues with the rear end. If you throw it into any turns that car is gonna want to be kicking the rearend around on you like thats it's job.

If you go w/ an FE3 front bar, I'd recommend the Progress 22mm rear bar.
FE3 is non existent.
It was either FE0, FE1, FE2.
FE0: no bars F or R.
FE1: 18mm (95-02), 19mm (03-05) and no rear bar.
FE2: F-22mm/R-18mm (95-02), F-24mm/R-19mm (Cavalier only 03-05)
Suspension components were beefed up in model year 2003 as were the brakes but at a loss of ABS of being standard.
But, it was the Cavalier that saw only the F-24mm/R-19mm bars and NOT the Sunfire. Sunfire used F-22mm/R-18mm.
This is not made up by me, but by per GM.

^^^ I think some "sticky" should be heavily revised, if not some should be deleted to avoid bad info.

You would either have.
FE0: No bars
FE1: F:19mm R:None
FE2: F:24mm R:19mm
To find out, look at your RPO code sticker located at the underside of the spare tire cover. There will be lots of codes, just look for the "FE"... .

sorry to bring this back. but if you read the suspension faq written up by Event and John Lenko again you'll find this....
"J-bodies do not come with a stock rear sway bar, but some models do come with a rear stabilizer bar. Aftermarket rear sway bars work with the stock rear stabilizer bar (you do not have to remove it)."
My car for instance has it. Take a trip to your local dealership, give them your VIN, they'll tell you all of your rpo's for your car and tell you what they are.
