Would you lower again?????
Monday, July 16, 2007 3:05 PM
I am looking to drop my 04 sunfire. I would like to go to a 1.7 inch drop, and have decided to go with KYB AGX struts, and Eibach Sportlines. The car is my daily driver, and i use it to go snowboarding up north a fair bit. I was wondering if anyone who has done this drop, or even more, and could give me any feedback as to their experience, and if they would do it again?

Cheers, Jay

I would not do it with those shocks first of all. They are only warantied to a 1.5 inch drop or less. I do not think the sportlines are a good fit for a daily driver and definatly not if you are going to be driving in the snow.

I lowered my first Cavalier on Sportlines... and stock struts, which were already shot at 20,000kms. That car had no body kit in it.... thank goodness, I rubbed on everything. Way too low to daily drive on the crap Vancouver roads. Really bouncy, people laughed at the horrid ride and asked me why I cut my springs... yeah... embarrassing! Made some of my passengers feel ill, my best friend flat out refused to ride in the car cuz it hurt his neck too much.

I eventually coughed up the $700 to get Koni Reds and it was like night and day... my car rode so much better, no more bouncy bouncy!! Still too low tho.

I traded the Sportlines for a set of Pro-Kit and I still have them, two Cav's later. I love them...

I'll never lower a car too much again... or without the proper performance struts. No point in suffering a crappy ride, and just throwing money away on struts that will blow in the end. Do it right the first time and call it a day... even if you have to save for six months to get there. Learn from my mistakes!!!

Eibach pro-kit is the way to go.

I like the Sportlines for looks, but for given the unforgiving ride I sometimes wonder whether Pro-kit would have been a better choice. The main reason I got Sportlines was that I don't have any body kit, so I wanted to run as low as I practically could. Ground clearance hasn't been an issue, but I am a bit afraid of what winter will bring.
