everytime i hit a bump there is a pretty loud knocking coming from the driverside rear. i am new to suspension, looking for things to check to fix the problem.
any help would be appreciated
just went and checked the upper mount, it was nice and solid. still making noises
I have noticed the same thing, but it's only when I hit a big bump. I also know my mounts are good. It could just be something in my trunk, but I doubt it.
I've luckily avoided any mount issues thus far, but I have to wonder for those that are checking their mounts and deeming them "nice and solid" -- are you sure that's what you need to look for? I was under the impression that the clunking is from the spring wanting to resettle in a mount that is failing to give any movement, resulting in a "clunk" when the spring finally twists all at once. Maybe I got the wrong idea -- I've honestly never had it apart myself.

i am willing to check anything it could be, but i am not sure i understand exatly what you mean.
I had the same noise..And when I redid my front Suspension we thought it was just the struts that were screwed..When we looked at the mounts they seemed fine..Took out the car the noise was even worse that before..Went back the next week and put new mounts in...The noise was gone..So even if all looks well if you have the clunk it more than likely strut mount..When ever changing front and rear struts..Pay the extra few bucks and put new mounts in..Will save you time and money in the end..
exactly what i said. get the 95-99 mounts if you do buy new mounts
