Hey guys
I've been reading alot on here within the last few days, and I've finally decided to purchase some Sprint Springs for my car to improve the suspension, and lower it down 1.8". My question is, when I do this, Do I NEED a Chamber Kit?
I have heard that when you drop a car down more than 1.5" you'll absolutly NEED to purchase a chamber kit, otherwise it will wear your tires uneven.
My tires need replacement ATM anyway, but I was worried that it may damage my car in some way, or be unsafe if I dont buy a chamber kit.
Anyone confirm that I need to buy this now, or can it wait?

and you plan on using konis or dspecs with those springs, right? cuz stock shocks/struts aren't gonna cut it
Need to buy New Struts right away? I thought it'll just kill my stockies faster, which I dont really care about, as long as they'll last long enough till I scrape enough to buy preformance shocks too

If you're worried about scrubbing off tires due to camber problems, I'd think you would also consider the problem of paying for wheel alignments. If you get lowering springs, you should get an alignment. If you blow your stock struts and get some better ones to replace them, you should technically get another alignment. That starts to add up, and is just one more reason why waiting to do it right the first time can save you a lot of hassle.

Just so everyone knows
I put them on last night with stock struts.
My allignment is not an issue right now, so I'm driving like this till they blow out on me.
Any bets how long the stocks will last? they have 70K on them now

2 months tops if that. not to mention it could cause other problems like bad wheel bearings and blowing boots. get an alignment anyway. anytime you remove struts you need to get one.

second
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE, i have already died once and im still here so lets just leave it on the track

Yes it is. You lost any alignment you had when you removed the bolts from the strut to the knuckle.

I needed a camber kit when i installed my lowering springs.
then you got suckered in to buy one because our cars do not create enough camber in or out to need a camber kit. a simple alignment will straighten your tires however low you are.
If i just needed an alignment why would both the outside walls of my tires both be bare. Wouldnt just one side be if that were the case???
well if your camber was off then only one side would be bare also because either the tire is leaning in or leaning out. my guess is your tires were under inflated which was causing that wear issue. same thing happens if you over inflate your tires, the middle wears out quicker

Nope. It's likely a combination of camber and toe. If the toe is off, the tires are basically dragging themselves down the road, causing uneven wear. Inflation is another likely culprit, and if I were a betting man, I'd bet on a combination of all three.

i recommend listening to these guys, they know exactly what they are talking about.
I was going to lower GR-2's, thinking hey, the cheap way out.
But i sold my GR-2's invested a little more, and bought everything at once.
I can tell this is going to be so much easier than installing a bunch of @!#$ at different times and needing to get tons of alignments.
I'm back from the dead.
