air ride freezing

has any one had problems with their valves freezing? it's about -8'C here and i had both my pressure sensors freeze (running 2 380C pumps) and one raise valve froze open and when i hit the dump valve to try to lower it (i didn't realize the up was froze open) it froze open too. i dumped all the air out of my tank and put my ride on the pavement. since the pressure cut outs were froze the pumps didn't start and i had to screw around to figure out what was wrong. after i bypassed the sensors to get the pumps running the heat from the pumps thawed the sensors and valves. lucky i was only going about 40kmh when this happened and i could pull off the street to get things going again.
the tank was drained yesterday and i don't have water traps. would air line anti freeze that truckers use help or should just put the stock suspension back on? i'm worried about when things get to -20'C and colder later in winter.

is it a brand new kit or a used one? the valves should only get stuck open when you hit a switch. if you dont play with the switches you shouldnt have a problem.

wheater the valves are mounted inside the car or outside wont make a difference. i spoke with jim at easystreet before and the people who work there mainly run their valves outside the car and they never had a problem. what could be happening if its a used kit is the rubber diaphram that is in the valve is getting soft. when you get a brand new valve, the diaphram seal in the valve is a hard rubber. over time and use of the valve, the diaphram gets softer and in the winter time is when you start to notice the sticking of the valves.

if its a new kit, i would suggest opening the valve and cleaning the diaphram with a little warm water. chances are there is some debris on the seal.

yes valves do freeze just use the airline antifreeze and get water traps. i have had air for 5 years and done many peoples cars. i have always used antifreeze and have never had a proble. If you dont put water traps on your car it dont matter if you use antifreeze or not the tank will fill with water and freeze.

i neglected to say in my first post that i had hit the switch to open that valve. one strut was running a little low 4 some reason. i'm planning on getting some watertraps soon. how do you use the anti freeze? just add some to the tank?

All the above suggestions will with out a doubt help, one more thing you should do i relocate your sensor to the highest point on your tank. this will stop water from being trapped in it.
