dspec/bumpstop question
Sunday, May 04, 2008 6:03 PM
Ill be putting my dspecs on tomorrow, with the lowering springs that are already on my car. im not sure what springs they are, but when i install the dspecs, will i need to cut my bumpstops? Ive searched and found that your suposed to cut where the first and the second "sections" crease. Is this correct? Im trying to confirm some last minute things so i dont end up blowing one of these things. Also, will i need a spring compressor since im already lowered and dont have to mess with stock springs? Ive heard you dont need one. Thanks!

I never cut my bumpstops. The instructions that came with the D-Specs didn't have the cavalier listed as needed to be cut.

I didn't need a compressor, I just pushed the strut mount down and tightened the bolt.

Debated topic. Bump stops help protect you strut. They say to cut the bump stops for more travel in the strut. I would leave the bump stops, it gives the strut more protection. WH\hen you bottom out the bump stops help prevent the the shaft from bottoming out. I say don't do it, you would get a longer life out of your struts.
