question about air tank
Thursday, September 18, 2008 9:16 AM
whats going on guys, i figure this is the best place for this, but i installed a 160db train horn on my car a few years ago, got a used compressor/tank. well i finally got around to looking for the leak, and the tank it self is leaking from where one of the legs are welded to it. so i started looking around, and i can not find anything smaller than a 3-5 gallon tank. has ANYONE seen anywhere that i can snag one of these up for a reasonable price?

thats cause they are made of aluminum and are rated lower at a max psi of 145. most people want 185-200 max psi. if u cram that much in there they deserve to have them explode. theres a max rating stamped on all tanks for a reason. and allso my buddys pt cruiser on bags has 3 10gallon tanks all chromed(factory not dipped) and each rated 145 so his pressure switch is 140 of 120 on for each and they are over 3yrs old. so just dont max them u'll be fine. just my input.

As long as you dont exceed the pressure rating of the tank.....you will be fine.

Jason, do you have any input on the exploding chrome tank situation?
