m2 lowering springs(do not buy!)
Wednesday, March 23, 2011 6:22 PM
So i got these springs in a kit with tokico hp struts and the car totally sits unlevel so i contacted the place where i bought them and they referred me to m2 performance directly and i dealt with them only to find out that they are re tarted. the dude (anthony was his name) tried telling me the 03 and 04 springs are apparently different and told me i could always cut the rear springs to match the front which is to low anyways and told me to get a refund from autogrimig for them if i didn't like that option. So om returning them for the huge refund of $55 bucks and looking for some new ones. Anyways i told m2 what i thought about their springs and told them they were wrong about the difference in springs. Anyways, just a warning to anybody considering buying these i would not recommend them.

Whoops, too late now. The kit is sitting in my room at home, waiting to be installed. Hmmm. Oh well.

Not to sounds like an ass but the m2 springs say they lower the car 2 inches front and rear. so if the car sits uneven at stock height, which it does, 2 inch front and back would still put it unlevel lowered. Thats why Eibach sportlines lower 1.7 front and 2.3 rear to level things out. Im sure m2 springs would have sagged anyways since they are pretty cheap. And that guy Anthony sounds like he is clueless also.

Todd, yeah I got them from the same place. Oh well, like you said im not worried, I really am happy with the struts I wasnt really expecting much from the springs. Altho I may sit lower because I carry two 12's in the trunk and my car is a vert, so IIRC its a little heavier then a coupe.

Zs Z, According to the site I bought the strut/spring combo from it says 1.5 front and rear. Im not sure how come Todds car didnt sit close to level. But I shall see how it goes. Im not too worried. The struts say they can handle a 1.5 drop, so im not going to push it much more then that. If I get the chance to change the springs then I will, if not oh well, lower then stock is good for me

I just searched ebay for cavalier m2 springs and some said 2.0 and others said 1.5. should look good either way. But with equal front and rear drop it will still have the factory rake. I still think, like you said above, it will look a ton better than stock. It will basically look the same as the Eibach prokit. And yes the vert is like 350 lbs heavier than a coupe.

Well i did measure my car before and after to the center of my wheel wells (yes i know this is not where u should measure) but it was even in the front and rear @ 28" on the level ground of my shop. After i put them on i was sitting at 27" in the rear and 25" in the front. If u saw my pics before it was clearly unlevel. So i measured yesterday cause its been a week or 2 and the front is now at 24 1/2 " and the rear is at 26 1/2" .I'm taking them off this weekend and putting my stock springs on until i can purchase some new springs. Sneezy i had 2 12" subs and i changed to 1 alpine type r 12" sub cause it takes up way less space and 800 watts rms going to that type r is crazy loud. lol everybody that hears it says holy s**it that is loud as hell ! But i would imagine the vert does add quite a bit of extra weight.

What did you expect for 55 dollars? I'm sorry but suspension is not an area to cheap out on. Spend the money do it right or don't do it at all.

zsz the m2 performance springs are 1.5 front and rear . it even says on the m2 webpage. oh and i asked that anthony guy from m2 about their headers cause i wanted to know the outlet size on them (not listed) and he has no idea. lmao

Factory they should not be the same but 2 inches does sound a bit farther off than what factory would be. weird. I now know I will never buy these springs.

While this is true, The struts are really all I wanted. They came with springs, and I dont think 400 is all that cheap.. Granted its not the 8-900 dollar suspension setups, I think this will be fine for a simple static drop and Tokico even rates these for a small 1.5 drop. And Tokico isnt a bad strut. Granted these are not the most expensive but they are fine. Tons better then the other crap on Ebay. I for one didnt buy them Ebay, but from a online store, but for the price im not complaining.

Well at the moment, I have 2 JL Audio W3's but those are coming out, and the trunk is getting built ( persay ) and im installing 2 12" L7's and those are quite a bit heavier then the speakers that are in there now. But we shall see. Again, im not worried about it. Ill see how it looks when there on, and go from there.

Damn sneezy , those L7's are rediculous and 2 of them? for the life of me i don"t get having that much bass unless u are competing or something , my 1 type r gets so loud it starts hurting my body and ears after about 20 min of driving to where i have to turn it down. Never been a fan of in my opinion overpriced JL audio , but i have always loved kicker and alpine. And i agree with u on the struts im not racing or anything so the hp struts are great for me. as it is i can take corners @ 50-60 mph wich is plenty fast enough to get ur heart racing and get arrested for reckless driving. And even though my car now sits unlevel it rides great and handles really well.

zsz when i put my factory springs back on i can take pics to show the measurement is the same in front and rear. And most every car i see lowered looks fairly level at least alot more than mine. And the struts and springs together were like 400 , they sell the m2 springs for 75 , but they are only giving me 55 because it was part of a package deal.

Lol, Yeah two L7's are going to insane. I use to have two L5's in my other cavalier and it was nice. But I wanted a little more power. But I also love insane amounts of bass hehehe. Plus, I got the L7's for a steal. The guy who had them only wanted 200 for them, so I took them. The JL's I got used so the guy who sold me those only wanted 200 for them also, so I bought them a long time ago. So that system is going into my girls Vert, and the L7's are going into my vert. Its gonna be sick, but soo nice. But hopefully that extra weight will push the rear down some more.

Well every cavy is slightly different but the usual is the rear sits higher. That's why the sportlines have more drop in the rear to make the car level.

Ftw is "for the win" some that u posted were pretty amusing tho.

Yes, Alot don't realize that HP's are the same as D-Specs. Just non-adjustable..

That will be a decent set-up.

Well tokico doesnt say its the same but its kind of. I dont think the HP will hold up a sportlines drop.
Re: m2 lowering springs(do not buy!)

Isnt the sportlines like a 1.4 drop?? If so, the Tokico HP Blues will handle a 1.5 drop, according the Tokico papers. 1.75 if you push it, but Im on the setup Todd is talking about. Car sits a little uneven but thats fine, my 18's took care of most of the wheel gap. And I prefur to have the back up a tiny bit since I still use the car as a DD. Altho I will tell everyone, the car rides stiff as hell right now. I have only dropped a car on air before so this is the first static drop I have ever had. I think it looks great, and only realy compromise is the ride, but I think its also since my 18's have hard rubber tires on there, so that makes the ride a little harder. I dont think this is a bad setup. I like them, and the springs arent too bad. Only real issue im having is a slight squeek from the left rear, but its nothing thats bothering me. So other then that, I would recommend these.
