So, im looking to replace my 135k mile stock suspension with a brand new setup. Strut mounts, struts, and springs on my 02 cavy beater. What struts and shocks do you guys prefer? Ive had Gabriel vst's before and had no complaints. What about Monroe struts? I havent researched fully yet, any other brands you guys recommend?
Thanks.

have you priced out stock replacement vs aftermarket? In all honesty a lot of times Aftermarket was either the same price or cheaper.
I mean as simple as the eihback pro-kit would be about the same as stock stuff if I were to guess. I mean I understand beater and all though.
someone makes a strut/spring/mount assembly that is take out of the box bolt right in. no assembly required.
you ever thought of going with agx? they are designed for stock height even tho people lower on them. also give you the option to adjust the ride. usually threw summit they are the least expensive. just a thought.
Vince, I have thought about aftermarket but I did not want to lower the car at all. I guess I could look at the AGX's like Jason suggested and go that route.
Off hand, anybody know which springs give the least drop? I can't remember, been so long since Ive been on springs.
Evo, yep advance auto has those bolt on kits. Kind of pricey for one I believe, gotta check again.
Thanks Jason, ill check Summit.

the agx used to be a little less. looks like you have a couple choices.

TEIN H-tech i would think is the smallest of all drop springs, right along prokits?
RockAuto has quick struts for the rear for 100 a side... Fronts are 122.
Cheaper than Summit...

check you Monroes line of Economatic Quick struts, just like their SensaTrac quick strut big brother with out the cost.
if you do complete struts let me know on the old factory springs.
Ok Jason.
Thanks guys, yea looks like I have more research to do than I originally thought.
Just checked Rockauto. The Monroe quck change has a full premium set for over 400.00 something, and the same Monroe quick change non premium would be 305.00. I may go that route, its just my beater lol. Right now I hear loose lumber every day I drive the damn thing, its annoying, front and back.
For the sake of people who need the info.
Struts- Rockauto
Premium Set
Monroe quick strut front complete assembly- part#172174- 122.00
Monroe quick strut rear complete assembly- part# 171281- 100.00
Cheaper ones of the above
Monroe- part#181281 rear- 65.79
Monroe- part#182174 front- 86.79

Leafy, just a few bucks cheaper than the ones I posted. Might as well spend a little more for comfortability. I have an infant daughter that rides with me, if it was just me I wouldn't give a crap what I put on it.

FWIW, I put the Monroe Sensi-Track Quick Struts on my stock '00 Sunfire 'vert about a year ago. The improvement in ride and handling made it as comfortable to drive as our '04 BMW 330ci 'vert. More than good enough for my 50+ year-old jet-jock butt. Installation was a no-brainer.
Thanks Jay lol

REBATE! Monroe has a $100 rebate on 4 starting 1 March. Also, Advance has 15% off online replacement parts 'til 3 March, but the prices seem way too high for the Quick Struts. No matter, you can still get the Monroe rebate form on the Advance site (rebate link at bottom of page).
Monroe seems to run these rebates in the Spring. When I got mine, the rebate campaign was something goofy like "save the squirrels."
