That has to be what it's for. There is no way that makes a performance increase. It would have to be attached to the frame to brace it to make any kinda difference.
Check Out My Domain Page!!!
Yeah,
And their universal braces.
Check out that guys auctions and you'll find some for like $24.99 or $29.99 or something like that.

Honestly, its not a good idea to mount a harness to those. A 45 degree angle is the steepest you want. Any more than that and you run the risk of snapping the back of your seat during an accident (since excess force is being applied to it).
Those seem more like a gimmick to me than anything. It may help sitffen the chassis more, but I doubt it's worth its weight, cost and effort to install.

^^ i agree. you also have more of a chance of breaking your back, if the seat back breaks.
I know there is a company that sells them. I just cannot remember who it is.
Someones gotta have this.

from what i heard you want the pivot point of the sholder harness to close to level as possible... that way the harness holds you back in the seat not down in the seat, if they are steep angle down and you crash when you go forward it compresses your spine, with them close to level as possible when you crash you get hold back against the seat but not compressed down into the seat
i wonder if i could buy these things, and modify them to sit behind the seat at head level, instead of at the floor. alot cheaper than the racing harness bars.

^^^ you could suse this bar to anchor the harnesses but you need a second one near sholder level for it to pivot on
The brace is called a floor bar. I actually used to have one in my cav
However, it does need to be bolted into the sides of the vehicle. The only companies that I would even begin to look at one of these braces would be Arospeed and Do-Luck. Both make a universal bar. The Arospeed is much, much cheaper. Do-Luck is very expensive. For someone tall, it is a bad idea because it gets in the way of moving the seat back and for someone who has people in the backseat, its a pain. I only noticed it when I got going upwards of 85-90 MPH and I wouldn't recommend that anyways. If you are buying it for looks, then it's a cool pruchase it bought for under 60 bucks. If you are a die-hard racer, then it's a decent purchase. However, if it's being purchased just for a mild upgrade, save your money for something else...........
I'll have a sig someday....................
