I would like to stiffen up my ride without lowering my car. The road conditions I am faced with make lowering it a bad idea. Any ideas?

You can always go with KYB GR-2's...those are OEM Replacements and probably work better than the stock ones.

what is it that you don't like about your ride? struts will only get you so far, especially OEM replacements as the name implies

you could go with custom springs, no it isn't expensive, it's around what you would pay for a set of aftermarket springs. 935motorsports.com is where i picked up a set for my supra. basically you pick the length and spring rate. it would be best to go with stronger struts to go with the stiffer springs as they will add to the wear and tear factor.
