I nned to change my front brake rotors on my 2003 cav. I was going to do so today, but after I removed the 2 3/8 allen bolts that hold the caliper on, it still wouldnt come off. What am I missing? Is there another bolt that I'm not seeing?
Thanx in advance for any help.
Those 2 allen bolts should be it...sometimes it needs some "convincing" to come off...I usually use a large screwdriver/smal prybar (something that is narrow enough to fit between the pads)
Put the end of the prybar/screwdriver between the caliper and the rotor and pry upward on it, and it should start to roll off. Repeat the process on the bottom side, and it should come the rest of the way off by hand after that. Make sure you've got a block of wood or a wire to hang the caliper on, don't let it hang by the rubber line.
Make sure that you have the bolts all the way out too, otherwise you'll never get it

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
I swapped out my rotors the other week, after I removed the two allen bolts, I just used a screwdriver to pry it out.. it came out..
Get a Bigger Hammer!!!
Yeah, what they said. It needs a little convincing, that's all.
I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.
