well I have a question i just started to install my rear strut tower brace....there is a circular like nut that i must remove....what tool would i use to remove this?
I used a socket wrench for mine, if thats too big just use a wrench

its the same as the front except your in the rear now. just use a socket. you can get a socket on it
I didn't remove those round nuts. I used 2 extra nuts I had laying around, and mounted the brace over those round nuts.
those nuts are welded in folks they aren't coming out anytime soon. they hold your strut to the body of the car.

Is this right, you just put a nut over the circle welded to the strut tower?
What about the other "removable nut" the brace attaches to ( without the circle), did you guys use any washers to kinda even out the space.
It just seems to me that if I put a nut on over the circle thing, with the brace inbetween, and then I just put the brace between the other nut ( without the circle), The brace won't be sitting flush?
oh yeah I have the vibrant brace, so there is only two attachment points ( as opposed to the rksport with all 3).
yes its true it's welded in there it what a bolt goes through from the bottom to hold that strut in place.
mine sit at a slight angle nothing big, you can put a washer underneath if you want it won't hurt anything. and with 2 mounting points your cool, just don't ever get one with only two mounting points. heres a quick tip putting it in. put teh mounts in and then add the bar when your done with that.
yeah I got it done yesterday. I just put three washers under the other bolt. I thought the job was harder than it seemed. I had jacked my car up and taken out the bolt from underneath, only to realize I didn't have to do any of it.
I noticed when I had put strut tower bars on my (rx-7 f+R) it made a much bigger difference. Maybe it is because it is RWD, or just that it seems like where the braces are designed to go on our cavaliers ( and sunfires too) within about six inches is a factory metal structured brace ( like under the back of the trunk, or above the firewall).
Don't get me wrong it makes some difference on the cav, but on my rx7 it was night and day ( maybe because the front upper stru towers are so far forward.
Anyways My swaybars are being shipped, maybe that will give me what I am looking for.
( or maybe it is the D-specs, or better rim/ tires, or lowering) that I can't afford
glad you got it in there, the sway bars will make a much more pronounced change in the car . the STB make teh sway bars do their jobs more effectivly as well.
