Bouncy Ride...
Wednesday, July 27, 2005 8:38 PM
Hey,

I just installed new agx struts and pro kit springs. I also put on new strut mounts since the old ones had 126,000 plus miles on them. The settings were at 2 front and 4 rear and the ride was pretty bouncy over a relatively smooth road. It wasn't a harsh bouncing but a constant up and down motion.

I was wondering if anyone has an idea what the problem might be or what setting might fix the problem?

Thanks for the help

stiffen it up a bit more....

if you get on 3 or 4 and its still the same way, then the road isnt as smooth as you think....

on the majority of roads anywhere when you get upgraded suspension you start to feel more and more of the natural divets that occur.

Event is right. Stock suspension is made to make the road feel smoother than it is. That is the purpose of suspension. Sportier suspension will let you feel the road more accurately.

Event & CTS are totally correct.

You have adjustable struts/shocks for a reason...use them.

I did play around with the adjustment on the struts, it seems the firmer setting makes the ride more bouncy and floaty. I know the ride gets harsher but i didn't know that it would be this floaty as well.

Are you sure you're turning the dial the right way?

Yeah, new strut mounts, alignment, tires.

whats your tire pressure at?

if overinflated, which some places do, that feeling will occur

happened to me when i got my second set of nittos... was wondering why it was like driving on ice at 55mph... got home and noticed the slapnut put 47 psi in my 50psi max tires....

lowered it back down to 32 and was back to normal

also since you did get a smaller tire than should be on there stock

in addition to being 2.4 mph slower at 60mph, you are gonna have a harsher ride...

Yeah the lower profile (only 5 would make it harsher. I gotta check the pressure though (overlooked that simple fact...).

Thanks for your help.

anyway you look at it, lowering a car will create a bouncy ride, i have a lowered z and the ride is a nightmare, always bouncing

What setup do you have?

If you have a good setup you shouldn't be that bouncy. Like said before, your going to feel the road more but as far as how much you go up and down, how hard your going to bounce and how much your absorb it depends on what you have done.

what you just said is full of bullsh__.....

if you are one of the people who half arses stuff, tries to be cheap, or just dont have a general clue about the stuff you put on your car.....then yea.... you;re right...

however if one gets quality parts, installs them correctly, and this means all around, wheels tires, etc.... then you will not bounce.
