rip-off?

okay so i was all lined up to get my new struts today and just went to the place to have them installed as well as new tires put on. i had discussed it with my dad and he said he couldnt afford to put on tokicos, etc. so what we came up with was settling on KYB not AGX just regular KYB struts. now i know that these arent warranted for my drop and i told him that. he said theyll last for a year then you can buy what you want. i said fine do it. i get there and find out that theyre only doing the back struts and charging $390 so i called my dad an told him that i thought that was a rip-off since i had found prices in the $500 range for all four and i could do the work myself. could somebody with knowledge in this area back me up. i want to make sure i did the right thing by bailing on the inferior struts.

I think you did the right thing. You can find regular kyb on the net for around 600 for a set of 4

AGX (Not cheaper GR2) on eBay

For a little less than $400 for all 4, ebay is the only way to buy AGX struts.

You will need to rent (or buy) a spring compressor, but that's cheap. I assume you have a full socket set and wrench set. +$70 (or less) for an alignment, and you're all set.

Whatever springs you want can be found on eBay too. It's all there, dirt cheap. Just follow standard eBay safety: Check feedback, look for the shipping cost, check all listings (not just the cheapest). Always get name brand stuff that we recommend (see the FAQ), never get a coil-over set off eBay (see the FAQ).

agx can be found for under 350 for all 4 if you look around...and thats shipped in some cases...

if someone was charging you for oem replacement gr2;s, then yea... you;re not in canada so i assume american prices....

and only for the rear.

And the rear should be cheaper than the front. So I can only imagine how much they were going to charge you for the front too.

what do you folks think of these as far as price. i already know the quality is good.

also thanks for the input. i knew something wasnt right
