Not sure if this should be in this forum or in the maintenance forum but here goes...
I put on my KYB/AGX - Eibach Pro Kit a month or so ago and have had a squeak in the rear end over bumps, etc ever since.
I've also been having the loose lumber sound coming from the rear so I got some new KYB rear strut mounts and put them in today.
Not sure if everyone's setup is this way, but my rears didn't have the rubber insulator between the spring and strut perch like the fronts have.
I could see that is where the pieces have been rubbing causing the squeak.
I bought a couple toilet plungers.... (the bigger black ones).
I cut the ring off the base of the plunger which this ring is the exact size to fit on the strut where the spring sits. Even leaves a little groove for the spring to set in.
Initial test drive over bumps had no squeaks.
So it works great with toilet plunger parts in my suspension.
My step son says I Monster Garaged my car....hehehe.
Not bad at all. I may have to give it a try, Question tho did it raise up the rear any?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
that's funny, because i had to put some 3m tape around a couple of my coils on a similar setup to get rid of my squeaks and rattles. seems to be working well

I was afraid of that too, but nothing noticable.
what about just simply buying the spring insulators that many people throw away from their stock setup.
gm already makes a rubber gasket piece to where it shouldnt squeak and every car comes with em....
only problem is, most people dont take em off when they switch springs....
not to mention they are usully cheaper than buying plungers of which you will throw away...
So there is supposed to be rubber insulators on there in the first place? I thought there should have been, but there weren't any on my stock ones. (I double, and triple checked).
Were on the fronts but not the backs.
I also bought this car new so they were never on there.
When I checked KYB's website they sell them for the fronts but not the backs.

Guess I didn't check a parts store after that.... just went to Menards looking for rubber to cut some custom ones, but found the plungers and they fit perfectly (only $5 each).
Funny thing is only my front right had the rubber piece and the driver side did not have it. It has never been touched so I assume it came that way from the factory. My rears did not have rubber on the perches at all.
"If you aren't shifting, then you certainly aren't driving!"
yup....
on all factory struts, there are rubber insulators on the spring perch. front and rear.
the mounts in the front have rubber ones on the upper half to fit on the spring seats...
but the rear upper mount is pretty much all rubber so there isnt a need as it doesnt pivot.
quality control maybe died for some, but for a long time i was like WTF are these things... until one time i removed em for the hell of it.... i found out quick.
^^hmm learn soemthing new everyday

Bringing back from the dead............
I also have a squeeking/ loose lumber sound from the rear when going over bumps, or up and down inclines............I have D-specs w/ B+G springs.................
The noise comes and goes sometimes, but it's annoying when it want's to squeek, and as of recently it did it for a couple of days, than stopped, then came back this week.......
I think that the problems are similar to craigeo.........
So do you guys think it's serious, like rear strut mount blown, or should I just live w/ it, till the strut mounts break.............
If the strut mounts are bad, how could u know???
I talked to Jim from Gravana, today, and told him about the squeeking...........he told be to try to spray and clean the struts, w/ water................
the noise went away, but I sort of knew it would, cause when it usually rains it goes away and comes back later...............so I'm thinking I just don't have the rubber insulator..........any ideas???
Strut mount(s) are toast, spraying them with stuff is just a temporary fix. It's in the FAQ too.

I don't think it's toast, but thanks for the advice............I just think A is rubbing onto B, thus causing a squeek..........
What are signs of a bad strut mount??? Like a CLUNKING noise or something right?
Clunking is a sure sign of a bad mount. Squeaking can be a bad mount too, although it can be other things as well. A squeaking/creaking noise is probably a strut mount. A squeaking/grinding noise is usually the spring isolator. Could be other things too.......

Is the spring isolator the same thing as the spring insulator???
