Sunday, August 28, 2005 12:05 AM
well i was being dumb and a little intoxicated and taking the turn way too fast and guess what i hit a curb. so now my front rim on the passenger side looks all wobbly and it makes i weird thumping sound. so my question is i hit it going like 25 or 30 side ways and i want to know what may be wrong is it just my alignement or is it my rim or what might be wrong with it. nothing else happened to my car except the front rim on the passenger side and i just want to know what may be wrong with it.thanks, and yes i am very dumb thank u!

take it to an alignment shop, usually they will check the alignment and tell you whats wrong. but curb hitting at 30.........could be anything really......tie rod, balljoint, anything

oh, and don't drink and drive

If you were still going that fast when you hit the curb, and it stopped you, here is a list of what is probably wrong:

Bent rim
Hub/Bearings
Ball Joint

Here is what could be wrong too:
Bent strut
Strut mount
Bent control arm
Bent engine cradle

Any if you're really unlucky:
Bent forward cradle
Bent frame
Bad CV joint
Bent Axle
Transmission damage
Misc Body damage

I think that's a good list of everything you could have screwed up.

I have an uncle who was killed by a drunk driver. I'm only sorry you weren't seriously injured. Your a dumb ass who should never be allowed to drive again.

if you would not have replied if you didn't but are you @!#$ stupid? i bet the drunk ass that killed your brother and C.T.S's uncle thought they were only a little intoxicated too. i am no high and mighty bastard either, i have drove before when i probably shouldn't have but then i grew up and realized how lucky i was, and i bet there are quite a few people here that have done the same thing whether they will admit it or not.

i would have to say C.T.S has it aboot covered, just be glad that this is all that happened and i hope you learned something, if not stay in texas away from my family.

ok well im sorry for respondign like that but its cuz i see all the time that people are so quick to say negative things but lets just end this right here and not fight anymore. and cts im sorry about ur uncle i know exactly how u feel so i guess were in the same boat but like i said i dont want to fight with anyone anymore. well i got it aligned and they had to adjust the toe and i changed the rim but the car has this weird vibrating and it gets worse when i turn the wheel to the left, and when i turn the wheel while im going slow the suspension makes a weird popping noise. so anyone know what might be wrong? the guy that aligned the car checked and said everything looked fine so he doesnt know what is wrong. so i dont know whats wrong. any suggestions?

I'm not mad at you, you didn't do anything to me.

Your CV joint is probably shot. Bearings might be bad as well.

your frame if fine. you might need a new hub bearing. that load of the crach had to mess it up.

The unibody is almost certainly not damaged. If anything it would be the engine cradle. Your friend with the z28 has a separate frame and a chassis. We have a Unibody frame and chassis in one, then a engine cradle, sometimes referred to as a sub-frame (although this name is incorrect). The engine cradle is make up of two side pieces (where your control arms attach, plus a few other things) and a radiator support (below the radiators, where the two side pieces anchor in the front). The back of the side braces attaches to "frame rails" in the unibody.

You may need to replace one or more pieces of the engine cradle. Someone will have to crawl under there and take a good look.
