This may seem like a dumb post, but I've been wondering ever since I saw a GM commercial where the actors pronounced "Ecotec" differently from how I do.
I have always said "Eeeko-tek"
The GM commercial said "Echo-tek"
How do you say it?

This is gonna get locked.
in another thread it was decided to be Echo Tek.
At least to my knowledge.
Eeeko-tek, i dont care if this gets locked, its pronounced eeeko-tek, haha
Sam
pretty much anyone who works for GM in a promotion for this engine, pronounces it "echo-tec"... but it really doesnt make a diff... its just pronunciation.. potato, potaato, pillow, pellow, etc... as long as everyone knows whats bein talked about, who cares? i know im always gonna pronounce it "eeko-tec" but someone else will say it the other way.. whatever man
Locked? - that figures.
I guess GM knows how to pronounce the name of their own engine.
Anyway, thanks for the answers.

Why bother having 2? Because even though I searched, I didn't see the other one. And because I had a VALID question. That's what the .org is for, right? There are plenty of threads that repeat the same info.
My comment "that figures" was a comment on how things can get out of hand (and then the thread gets locked). Guess I should choose my words more carefully.
Seriously, why give me a hard time for asking this?

not giving you a hard time.
I've been around for a while. maybe not as long as some of these other members.... but still.... It's been discussed and when threads like this pop up. I'm surprised they last so long.
But to be honest with you.. about your question..
Either way is correct in my opinion.
GM says Echo
some people say EEKO
I say EEKO. Big deal.
Hope you don't hate us all for this post though.
Eeko...Teck.
ps...thanks for the hot tip!
Silver Stripey makes your Day!
GM says ECK-o... but the dealers up here in Canada say EEK-o and so do I
Who cares?
