You know at times this forum is really great, And other times it sucks. The amount of argueing and wise a## remarks on here is rediculus. And none of it is necessary. I often ask for advice and i often get good advice, But then argueing starts between two giving advice. I just want to hide under a rock.
If I try to give advice, I get people responding to my advice to someone else as if I havent got a clue. I wont respond if I dont have any idea what the possible solution to the problem would be, I am a mechanic 6 days a week for the last 15 years, I know what not to give advice about. Look I know that there are many different approaches to a problem and giving advice over the net about something that is described to by the person needing help, is most of the time useless. Simply because they are not mechanics nor know what to look or listen for. Most of all, If the problem isnt right in front of me or you, you cant be 100% of the fix.
So what Im getting at is most of what advice is given is merely a suggestion for the problem. There is no wrong way to fix a problem as long as the end results remain the same and no one gets injured. So lets not argue about who has the best advice, and just help each other with our J's.
I will more than likely will get criticised severely for leaving this but I think it has to be said.
If you have encountered argueing and advice bashing in your thread please respond.

Based on the title of this thread, shouldn't it be here:
http://www.j-body.org/forums/list.php?f=29
However, I understand fully. I look at it this way, sometimes if I have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll just pass the thread up. Better that way.
So from the 5 posts you've made in the past 30 days, one person said something you didn't like, and you started this post?
And is the point of this post just to argue about people who critisize your advice? This is the internet, I guess I'm the first to welcome you here, since you can't please everybody on the internet, and 99% of the time, somebody's post who contradicts yours is taken in a way that isn't what the poster intended.
If this kinda stuff wants to make you "hide under a rock" after being a member for 3 months, you won't make it long here, this is the way it is. You're dealing with 16,17,18 year old know-it-alls who obviously know more than you, no matter what you say. Learn to brush it off, you'll live longer.

I agree , thats how I do it too. If I dont feel comportable about giving good advice on the topic I wont respond.

Well after three months You'd think that I would have figured it all out but I guess I have a few things to learn.

Its not from just the last 5 posts that I have made its all over this forum site. I like to go into threads and look at whats being discussed and see half way through two guys argueing and the person needing advice never replies again.
thats not right.

Are all the online forums like this?

It can be changes, it's called make it a rule that it's not allowed, and if it happens, the people involved in the argument get a temporary ban. Sure, there are TONS of members, and not near as many mods/admins.. but they could appoint more mods/admins that are worthy trusted members, and have then help watch things over. It would work very well. And, if the person keeps up thier attitude, they get a permanent ban. Easy solution to a rather large problem.
It's a shame that people come here to ask a question and then get ran off by the dumbass members that argue over stupid stuff. The whole reason I came here was so I could ask questions about my J, and I decided after about 3 questions that I didn't want to ask anymore, because it was just ridiculous trying to get an answer out of most of the people here.

Agreed on both counts. I've noticed the same over the last couple years. And I can attest for the other forums being worse.

Sure, other forums are worse.. but is that really an excuse for the rude members here? I think not.

I have seen several that are much better though. You can change people who post on the internet....almost identical to enforcing rules in real life. Consistant, harsh, fair punishment.

Isnt there any one that monitors this already? What good are rules if no one enforces them.

Thats sad.

I think there are 5 mods, maybe 6... for 30k members and the countless number of posts that are made each day. Thats alot of workload to handle. If you have a high-profile for one reason or another, your posts are under further scrutiny than other folks.

Same here, however they don't have the large member base that JBO has, so its easier to police.
hey but isnt "Shifted" a monitor?
he has relocated and locked some of my posts before i think. ( were afterward i figgered out why, and its all good now)

Sure is. (and its moderator, but I knew whatcha meant)
i think alot of it is that people have this obsession with having to post something. you really have to know and learn the people on here that know what they are talking about and that you can trust for info/ and also the people that just want to add something whether it is right or wrong.
