What should I offer for this?
Saturday, December 02, 2006 3:28 PM
Not sure on the exact year, but I am thinking that it is a 97 or lower, it has the analog odometer, instead of a digital one.

It's a Sedan, 2.2 obviously, 3 speed auto. The car has recently been wrecked, both bags deployed. Front end is getting replaced with all new stuff. It needs tires replaced, nothing to bad though.

From what I saw, it is in good shape. The bags have not been fixed yet though. I was thinking around $1500 or so, but I am thinking the guy would want more.

What would it be worth, that's reasonable?

asuming its a 96 with without options in "fair" condition KBB says $1,025. If the fron is smashed and the bags are blown thats not good, I would offer him $500-600

btw in "exelant" condition value is $1,630 so no matter what $1500 is way to much

Wow that's good to know guys.. I would have been ripped off if I offered that. I'll see what he is looking to get before I make a move, but if he doesn't take the offer of around $600 or so, then it's not worth it.

I just want another J again.

I don't know about your area, but I can't believe it's really any different, since there are so many J's out there.
Around here, I see 95-99 2.2 sedans and coupes for around a grand in excellent shape. Z24s for anywhere in the teens in excellent shape. Anything with issues of any kind, or mileage much over 100K and they go for under a grand. I'd definitely say no more than a few hundred bucks for that thing.

Yeah i agree with you quikcav, personally and this is just me wrecked or not depending on how far over 100,000 it was i wouldn't pay anymore than past maybe $400 possibly 5 in a pinch, but yeah if it's been wrecked no more than maybe 4 because even repaired to like new condition they say previously wrecked cars never really run the same no matter what.

Damn, you all are making me sad.. my mom paid $3500 for her 99 Cavalier, it had 60k on it, and it had been wrecked twice...

I think she got fisted with no vaseline... lol.

I'll look to see what kind of price he is wanting and offer him like $500 for it and see what happens.

my little bro got his 98 sunfire 2.2l coupe for $750, never wrecked or anything. for another $750 he got a new engine and a bunch of probs stuff fixed on it. IMO look around man....DO NOT pay 1500-2000 for ANY J more than 5-6 years old unless it has a ton of mods to it.

don't pay 1500-2000 for any J more than 5 or 6 yrs old unless it has a ton of mods on it ,LOL since when does a ton of mods increase the resale value it could have a ton of mods have 250 300,000 miles plus and still be worth el zippo.

Mods tend to drop the re-sale value usually. I still haven't heard how much he wants.. hopefully he makes up his mind soon so I can decide whether it's worth it or not.

this applies to selling modded cars to the general public....but it usually boosts the resale at least a little to another person in the scene.

you were willing to spend 1500-2000 for a wrecked 97- 2.2 sedan. ive seen plenty of non-wrecked 2.2 Js with full kits and rims, etc going for that same price range. in fact, last december i bought my buddy frank's cav with all the accessories in my profile (the black car). he was gonna let me have it for $800 stock or for $1300 with the works. i paid the extra $500 and got all the extras.
