Ok i have been having my 03 cav since 04 and i never really wondered what ecotec means, is it similair to the Honda's v-tec.
Stupid question probably but no one i know has a clue.
ecotec and vtec are 2 totally different things
ecotec stands for ECOnomical TEChnology. or something like that. but like Goodwrench said its just a name
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
ECO stands for like.... the entire planet... a.k.a. Global.
Global Technology.
=
Same engine produced/used worldwide.
Wikipedia definition
Just a name. I always figured the original idea was to emphasize improved economy in the marketing, but it really doesn't have to mean anything.

The word Ecotec is mentioned in a Queen song
It'd be nice if the ecotec had some timing/lift control...
