I have always been under the impression that the 99 2.4L Twin Cam LD9 has never had an EGR on it. I know the 96-98 years do, and i know the 00-01 do NOT have one, but does anyone know for sure if the 99's have them?

I was told that up to a certain point in 99 they stopped putting them on,I told this to a worker at Autozone and he looked at me weird and said their all supposed to have one if they dont that's illegal

i looked at a 99 and it had a EGR, i looked at another and it didnt so i dunno... could have been a 98 w/ the EGR but the digi odometer kinda threw me off...

Look at the label under the hood...... will say the year..... so will the VIN if you know how to read it.
but I have heard it both ways as well..... that in 99 there where EGR equipped Low Impedance 99's, and Non EGR equipped High Impedance 99's...... Maybe its a Ohio vs Mexico production thing? IDK.

Lordy here with my 99 high impedance, no EGR. Boths friends sunfires are 99 from Lordstown, and both have high impedance, and no EGR. Never seen one yet with EGR or high impedance injectors.

They used a linear egr valve on the 2.4 from 96-98. The 96-97 had it located on the left of the cylinder head. For 98 it was moved to left rear of the engine.
Huh? All 96-98 2.4L engines were the same... EGR valve on the front of the engine... the driver's side. The stock exhaust manifold is the same for 96-98 as well.
You might be thinking about the 2.2L/2200.... that changed for 98.
Youre right, i mixed up the location of the valve with that of the 2.2, but the years they were used should be correct.
I have a '99. Where SHOULD my EGR be located, IF I have one?
