camshaft sensor

how come my 04' alero harness does not have the connector for the camshaft sensor? the map and
cam sensor have the same design but i only have the one for the map. now i did chec the colors and
the colors going to a certin connector shows that it is for the cam sensor but it dont fit. Its a 03' impala sensor
but between the alero and impala they share the same part no.

Is the harness for an Eco? If so there isnt a cam sensor.

Your talking about a V6 arent you?
I remember someone bringing this up before, there were two different wiring harnesses I think. the wires were in different parts of the harness. If Im not mistaken there was one that had the wires coming from the MAF sensor area, all the way across the engine. the other was wired in with the injector harness.

There is no way the map plug reaches the cam sensor if you have it installed in the intake correctly. the cam sensor runs all the way over to the fuel psi regulator before going under the intake. The sensor plugs in right around the oil fill cap.
Map plug should be green, cam sensor is black and isnt the same as the map, It should be an oval, ish center with little notches on the ends like the coolant temp sensor but wider, red/wht brown/wht and black wires.

You have to have the cam sensor plug somewhere. If It were me I would go to your trusty wiring schematic and follow the wires from the pcm pins to the cam sensor. Cant go wrong there. If you need some help with the pin outs let me know and Ill look them up at work.

I do know that the alero's did have a harness that included some emissions stuff and maybe when adding the extra wiring for that, they in turn moved the cam wires.

Hey I got an 03 Impala 3400 in at work today, Looks like it has your mystery cam sensor harness on it.. I didnt have my camera with me but I can tell you that the sensor doesnt have a pigtail on it. the harness plugs directly on to the top of the sensor. from there it goes towards the rear, into the injector harness plug. I couldnt really see what colors were on it for sure, but it looked like pink /wht, a brown and a black wire.

both cars use the same sensor!

sounds like you need this one. If so you dont have an 04 alero harness.
