Anyone ever hear a thump thump thump noise coming from the back end when they apply the brakes, i have a noise like that now and i think the back brakes are probably bad but not positive can someone fill me in thanks . Btw the noise i described starts as i am slowing down and continues all the way until the car is completely stopped.
do the drums on our cars warp pretty easy i just had the front and back brakes both done not too long ago, is it possible excessive heat could have gotten back there somehow and prematurely warped the drum.
I dont know about your case, but I had my abs light come on along with the thump noise in the rear, So I unhooked the abs, and the thump went away. I hooked it back up, and it is back up to its old tricks again. I can kinda feel the brakes grab and compress the rear suspension as well. i hope this helps you with trouble shooting your problem. then again, it could have nothing to do with your abs...
98z24, lowered 2", aem intake, cat-back striaght pipes!, cop ligths in the front and rear, 18" liquid metal's, primer black, tint, full audio and video.
thanks matt, i feel the brakes grab once in awhile the back ones that is but i just had the brakes both front and back done not long ago. At this point i'm assuming if my brakes were gone entirely i'd be getting the red brake light in the dash coming on, i have abs on mine as well but it only comes on when i turn the key the second the engine starts the light goes out don't know if i would be getting the abs light if my brakes were shot or not.
wheel bearing! from what i heard j bodys are good for eating them up but iunno thats just what i heard. when i first got my car i had that exact same thing, lift the back of your car and see if you can shake the tire, and recently i had the same thing as matthew described, also turned out to be a wheel bearing but it was majorly messed up..... they're 90 bucks each, give or take. i hope you dont have the same issue i did with wheel bearings cause it got expensive, i had wheel bearings failing left and right. i guess there is a revised version of it and advanced kept giving me the older version

oh wow sounds fairly expensive, now if the wheel bearing fails entirely then what.
bad stuff i wouldn't mess around with wheel bearings and its not so bad i only paid for one its just a pita to have to pull it out and take it back for premature failure. the tone ring for the abs sensor separates from the spindle inside it ( from what i have noticed with mine) then it ovreheats the bearings and makes them fail its a sealed unit so its a quick swap.. i would suggest just biting the bullet and replacing it if that is your problem

in the event that that is my problem, there has to be a way of preventing the bearings from overheating.
If you don't want it to overheat... then replace it, or don't drive it.
that's your only solution John wow what a genius you are, i should have come to you sooner yeah don't drive it just let it sit there and wait for the tires to go flat etc, brilliant plan brilliant. As for keeping it from overheating i meant if i replace it how do i keep the overheating problem from recurring
theres nothing you can do if it fails it fails its a sealed unit.

so fluffy, what your basically saying is i could keep blowing through these things every 5 minutes and still end up being charged for every single one even if it's the same one i just had done that's insane.
no lol im just saying you might got a junk one. and if you do they will exchange it for free because thats premature failure. didn't mean to freak you out i just had horrible luck with mine

thanks for clarifying that fluffy.
