Hey guys i am looking to do another Ecotec swap..........i cannot find any infor regarding AUTOMATIC swaps

i want to swap a 00-02 SFGT 2.4 Automatic to a Ecotec Automatic. aren;t they the same tranny?? i was just wondering about the tranny mounts. if they are the same its a direct bolt in like my 5 speed

i searched it only came up with 5 speed swaps........

and yes i know i should switch it form auto - 5 speed but the reason for this one to stay auto is the g/f wants one and she refuses to learn to drive my car. so the Tahoe is drinkin lots of gas lol time for 3rd vehicle

the bellhousing is different, so no, a 2.4 auto trans will not work. you need an auto from an eco car.

if I remember correctly, the tranny mounts are different between the 2.4 and the Eco. I could be mistaken though.

it may have been the way you worded it Greg, at first it messed me up too, then I realised what you meant by it when I saw the mounts part.

All 3rd gen automatic transmissions(3t40 & 4t40e) share the same mounting points on the jbody. The only difference is 3spd and 4spd use different mounts and a different shifter. Now to answer your question they are both 4t40e's but the bellhousing is different. So you will need to purchase a eco trans

but then i have the Eco donor car already lined up
