Who else has one? What do you normally pay for a gas fill? How far does it get you?
Any common problems?
How much of a nightmare is it to do routine maintenance on?
HPTuners?

Huh, what? CNG = Compressed Natural Gas, if that's what you're not sure about.
Also, did GM sell these throughout the country, or was it a regional thing?

Wow this is the first time i hear about these.... Interesting
I have only seen one refill station in my area, and it does not provide prices on CNG. I have only seen them as fleet vehicles for local gas companies. Is that where you got yours?
Check out my Part Out List!! Great Prices !!

^^^ Its the same thing as the cavy just has some extra stuff in the engine bay as well as almost no trunk room.lol
I bought it from our Univeristy Surplus auction. We have a lot of them as fleet vehicles, but at the turn of the millenium the government was offering HUGE rebates on them out here, so there are a lot on the street as well.
I have seen a couple in the junkyards as well, but never really checked them out (other than to see they have almost NO trunk space lol).
I'll post pics after I pick it up this afternoon.
According to a government website I came across, it costs almost 3x as much to run on CNG lol.

Those doors SUCK! It is the biggest problem of the five I've found on the car. (CNG door can't go flush, something in the trunk is loose, normal gas door shuts too much, large paint scratch, and one knob on the radio is damaged).
Best thing about the car -- I don't need a passenger to drive in the HOV lane

dont they run on gas or cng. i think the one that was on ebay said it had a small gas tank plus the giant cng tank in the trunk.
but i am always ready to be corrected
theres info on a page about it on this site! ive only seen one before.... rare car
Working on obtainting an M-Class license... ?? Hint: 2 wheels.
wow that looks good. the one i saw in teh yard had a giant exposed tank sitting sideways (taking the entire trunk) and the filler was slightly different

Nice pics Trevor. I've never seen a '03+, but the filler door and engine bay look 1000000000000000x better than the 00-02.
My trunk will have even less room, since I always carry a full-size spare.

Compressed Natural Gas or CNG, is one of nature's best untapped energy sources. Unlike fossil fuels, it is constantly produced by the earth and can also me synthesized through chemical processes. Cyber_lot. The technology has been around for decades but until recently has been kept in the closet by big oil! It is one of the fastest growing alernative fuel sources and unlike biodiesel and ethanol (E85), is a viable replacement for pertroleum. Within the next 10 years 90% of gov't fleets will be CNG and civilian population will follow over the next 20 yrs.
Do people actually believe this?
It looks like since they were mainly for government fleets, they are all base models with tilt and cruise control (no power options, 3-speed tranny).
I'm curious as to what they weigh, because my '96 was much quicker than this. I may have to hit the track and see if it can even break the mighty 20-second barrier.

First time I've seen the 03+ (Eco) CNG cars... not bad.
How's it run?
Runs like a champ. Starts right up, never misses a beat, just slow as molasses.
I'm not sure how to tell if there's any CNG in the tank, lol. Or, how to switch over for that matter. I wish it would have come with the owner's manual...

this is from the GM Service Information I have
Fuel Gage Selector Button and Fuel Indicator Light
The fuel gage selector button and fuel indicator light are next to the interior lamps control.
The fuel gage selector button allows you to check the fuel level of both the gasoline and the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel tanks.
If the button is pressed while operating on CNG, the fuel gage will tell you how much gasoline is in the gasoline fuel tank. If the button is pressed while operating on gasoline, the fuel gage will tell you how much CNG is in the CNG fuel tank.
During the fuel level check, the fuel gage will display the fuel level for about 30 seconds. The gage will then return to its previous position and tell you the level of the fuel on which the vehicle is operating.
The fuel indicator light is located on the fuel gage selector button. The light will come on if your vehicle is operating on gasoline.
The light will also come on for several seconds during start-up. This feature is designed to check the operation of the bulb. If the light does not come on, either a CNG fuel system fuse or the bulb may need replacement.
hope that helps
