This may sound dumb but I have two 05 sunfire's and one of them is auto in perfect condition and the other manual, but look like hell. What I'm asking is do I have to do any welding or will everything just interchange?
pretty sure u just swap out tranny, axles, ecu and shift linkage/centre console, and neutral safety switch
1991 Skyline GTR
1996 Sunfire
It is not as involved as you would think.
Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.

The auto and 5-speeds use different mounts so you will have to weld. Swapping subframes will not work because the trannys are not attached to them.
219whp - I <3 whine
i also forgot clutch pedal/ clutch master cylinder

1996 Sunfire
Just got the rear mount for my 5 speed swap so that only leaves me with having to have the tranny to rebuild and go from there.
I've got everything I need now to do the job but I'm going to wait until either the engine dies or tranny dies to start on the swap.
Good luck.

Thank you Dave and JBO!
what about interior wiring if you don't wanna change the hole harness?
On my 99 sunfire it was a 2200 4 speed with cruise. If you don't want check engine lights. The computer should be switched. Not sure if the bcm does. The engine harness can be made to work from auto to 5 speed but will need the speed sensor and receverse switch plug. Though those can be hacked off any harness. As there is a few plugs that are the same. As for the color of the wires I can't remember. If the car had taction control the box in the kick panel on the driver side needs changed. I think it says ECS on it. I have the box down stairs.
You have to change that to a regular abs module. It can be found in 5speeds or 3 speed autos. Speaking 99 and below. Not sure of above. You have to tear the dash clear apart to get the nut and bolt in for the brake ped/gas pedal. Along with the clutch pedal. It is at the top of both pieces and bolts to the steering columb. For the clutch switch and stuff. You can tie into the yellow wire under the dash.
I am running a 2000 2.4. So i have the same tranny you would have. Then the auto mount needs cut off. The two 5 speed mounts welded on. Then you need the driver side axle for a 5 speed. For the passenger side you can use the one auto axle that doesn't have the stub shaft.
But the interior harness doesn't need changed. As I said it isn't the same year but is moreless the same. I thought I would just say what I know. O and you need the console or mod the stock one like I did. But the cables for the tranny run the same place as the auto. Along with the shift bolts up where the auto shifter did. If you want to drive the car on the auto pcm. You have to hook together two wires to trick the computer into thinking it is in drive. Or it will hit the 4k rev limiter. As for the starting in park deal. Not sure there.
