Finally got my car on the dyno with my rear mount turbo kit. 5 psi put down 240hp and 262tq. Stock 3400 put down 187hp and 212 tq. Im pretty happy with the numbers. 11.5 AFRs with no knock. Opinions?

What turbo are you using? Congrats on the numbers but it seems a little low to me. My bone stock eco on hpt tune make 249whp.

The HP seems kind of low to me too, the TQ looks nice though. Have you got an image of the sheet? What kind of dyno? My NA 3400 did 205/201 on a Dynomite with the LN2 pump and 22lb injectors (and would have gone higher but the pump couldn't keep up). That specific dyno reads about 20% lower than Mustangs and Dynojets.

It was on a dynojet and I have the sheet have to get it scanned into my computer, its currently taped up on my tool box at work. The turbo is a T3 T4 T04E .60 .63AR journel bearing. Im thinking about getting a ball bearing one.

how the hell are you guys' n/a 3400's putting down such epic numbers stock? i have two, one in my 03 montana and the other in my 03 grand am gt. both are slow as balls.
I choose the technology built for land speed records... not the technology built to save on emissions and gas mileage.
You should be roughly close on the power. Both cars are heavier, especially the Montana. Then you figure that you have 4 gears in them, rather than 5, so the loss of that ratio will cut you back some. Then the Auto trans will have either a 3.05 or 3.29 FDR in them, in comparison to the J-body 5spd guys running either a 3.58 or a 3.91. Most of your slowness is coming from the worse gearing and extra weight.

I have a bone stock 3400 in mine and I can tell you that the car is pretty quick! Numbers will be slightly higher because we use the Impala PCM instead of the Grand Am and we need to come up with a custom intake and exhaust so why try to go though all the effort getting the stock ones to work just to kill the flow. Also almost all of us are using the 5 speed transmission and the car is much lighter as SHOoff mentioned, So in other words Power to Weight ratio is way better on a J.

28# injectors... What's your injector duty cycle? Those seem extremely small imo.
I need to put my 3.4 swap on the dyno but not sure on the numbers I have seen posted from bone stockers. My swap is in a 99 sunfire with a 02 2200 getrag, ported upper and lower intake, custom full cai (Due to high iat's in the engine bay), then stock grand am downpipe into 2.5 all the way back with a magnaflow f-body muffler. The motor and pcm is out of a 05 grand am gt, but tuned via hptuners by myself. The tune is for 87 though where I am only able to run 20 degree's wide open with a 12.8 a/f.
Where I don't believe it run's much better then the 00 2.4 it replaced. The 2.4 was H.O intake and tb, intake, header and same exhaust. The 3.4 has more tourqe down low but up top the 2.4 seemed just as close.

I'm not sure what the other guys are running for timing.... but if you ended up turning the timing back I don't understand. The 3400's come from the factory set to run 87 octane, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Yea they are tuned on 87 but with a @!#$ load of knock retard from what I have seen personally to others over at hptuners. After new maf and fuel pressure regulator that it about all I am able to run with out knock retard. Or at least I am pretty sure that is where I have it at now, I need to double check as I am going off memory. Where I have seen I believe it was the kurt guy comment the 3400 doesn't make anymore power over 23-24. I've thought of throwing 93 in it to see what timing it would manage but figured power wise it wouldn't be worth much trying.
I would also love to know how the few 5 speed swapped 3400's on ob2 here doesn't drive like poo tuned on hptuners. Where I had to end up using another bin for a 05 gt with tiny tuners to change the dfco tables, as it would cause stalling at times since it wouldn't kick off till 900rpms. Then the reving from the iac tables when lugged hardly at all to what seemed the moon was annoying. The tune is dialed in pretty good though as I pulled 27mpg on a 2 hour trip through wv's mountains last week. With speeds ranging from 25mph to 65mph.
Pss wrong name as the above is a old one but I believe you helped in my thread with my swap here. I need to post in the swap thread with my setup, as I am using all grand am stuff to the ac compressor and dual fan's. Only thing I used from a jbody was the radiator hose to the res, then the bottom wishbone mount is the 2.4 one modded. Just wish the stock tach could work some how
Also prop's to the op, but not my cup of tea how it was thrown together as it is. My opinion is it could have been done cleaner with better depenability. Sorry for being a little off topic though, I do have a questions is any of the 3.4 swappers having hard starting issues? I noticed the op's started right up where as mine takes a few cranks to start. Fuel pressue holds and is to spec, where I'm tempted to switch from the jbody starting setup to the grand am off the pcm.
I have problems with mine starting, but it's most likely due to startup fueling setup in mine since I'm running MS-II.

I don't have any issues starting mine, never more then a couple of turns. I am on a Impala PCM and yes my tach works.and no my car doesnt run like "poo" pm me if you would like more details.

I'm a 99 so my tach isn't going to work flashing the impala bin to my pcm or getting the pcm. As for driving like poo I know for a fact it will/does. I've downloaded nearly every 3100/3400 bin and looked at it with tiny tuner. Where stock the dfco doesn't kick out till 900rpms. If you leave the idle as is it will stall when geared down coming to a stop pushing the clutch in. The cause of it is the timing in dfco and the lean condition caused by dfco. In turn the computer will have issues keeping it from stalling. You can raise the idle but anything above 900 dfco will be in/kicking off which will hide the issue. Then as I said when you lug it to where the rpms drop below the set rpm. Hold on as the iac will go crazy reving it up. Where if it is in gear it will take off pretty good, if not in gear you will look stupid when going through a parking lot. As it will stay rev'd up for a couple of secs.
You pm'd me saying you were going to get started on tuning. I recommend to find a bin file and use tiny tuner to edit the dfco tables and the iac stuff. Mainly due to hptuners can't touch the tables needed for a good driving 5 speed tune from auto. I picked up most of my mpg playing raising the timing in part throttle, then editing the dfco tables. Where I believe I have it set to enable at 1400 and kick out at 1000 with timing of 10 degrees. Then my idle is set to 800 I believe or 825. Also with tiny tuner you can change the o2 threshold's to lean it out part throttle if you would like. Where as hptuners doesn't allow you to touch that either. Then for the reving up lugging, so far I have played with the iac rev something per mph. Where I just zero'd out the table for now. If you do go that route you need to use 2 credits for your pcm and the other bin file you edited with tinytuner if the vin isn't the same. Then do a write entire to flash the new tinytuner edited bin.
