So, this is the deal, last time i replaced my water pump on my 96 cavalier there wasnt a thesmostat behind the water pump like i thought it was supposed to be, so i put one there. The car has run fine for the last 5 years exept the no closed loop due to coolant temp too low during the colder months and it takes it a hile for the heater to get hot. Well my water pump has been making noise so im bout to replace it with a new thermostat and flush. Well all the diagrams i see show the thermostat on the tube right behind the water pump were the hoses connect to. I havnt taken it appart yet, but if theres one there them im running with 2 thermostats. Question is where is the right location for it? I beleive i got the idea of putting it behind the water pump from the housing on the right side that says the thermostat is behind the water pump. Thanks in advance
It should be in the housing on the transmission end of the head.

nothing like adding parts that dont need it
