Just discovered I have a crack in my subframe ('98 z24) near the front passenger side due to major rusting. I love this car and the engine is good, I don't want to give up on it, but I'm afraid I might be looking at a losing battle with rust. Would I be nuts to try and get it fixed? Would I be better off trying to find salvage car with a good body and merging the two? Probably every Cav in my region has significant rust though- cursed WI winters. Am I grasping at straws? I probably can't do the work myself. Is it time to say goodbye?
Swapping in a new engine cradle is typically only $150-$300 depending on availability in your area.
