hey
i have a eurolite 5000v underbody kit, it has 4 bulbs 2 30 inch and 2 48 inch in red. 2 wires come from the transformer to the first neon out of it to the 2nd to the 3rd to the 4th nothing comes out of the 4th one.
my transformer is gone and my friend gave me a Sreetglow 9500v transformer, it works with one wire from the transformer to the first neon out of it to the 2nd to the 3rd to the 4th and back to the transformer.
i think that the eurolite kit runs the 2 wires becuase one wire gos to the end and runs along the inside of the neon tube back to the transformer looping the system like the streetglow. I am thinking that the street glow go's straight back to the transformer and the eurolite go's back through the bulbs to the transformer
what i would like to know is how dose the transformer work, dose the transformer make whatever the neon tubes need or dose it just make the 5000v or 9500v and push it into the bulb. If i hook a 9500v transformer up to a 5000v kit bulbs with it only use 5000v or push the 9500v and pop the bulbs.
CAN I HOOK UP A STREETGLOW 9500V TRANSFORMER TO A EUROLITE 5000V KIT??
thanks

sure you can, don't know if it will work, or blow up, but you can do it. just make sure your wiringdoesn't burn up and if it lights up at all it should be ok.
No.
a 5000 volt transformer will make 5000 volts.
a 9500 volt transformer will make 9500 volts.
the neon tubes need to be wired in series. when you do so, the 5000 volts is split equally among them, 1250 a peice. if you use a 9500 volt transformer, each would get 2375.
let me ask you... if you take a 9 volt battery, and hook it up to a light bulb from a flashlight that only takes one AA battery... what happens?
now imagine that on a scale 1,000 times bigger.
the same thing happened when I had my neon underbodies. The first tube lit, 2nd lit, 3rd lit, but 4th didnt. eventually it got to the 1st lit, 2nd lit, but only the first half of the 3rd lit, and the 4th didnt.
if possible, I would suggest returning those neons and gettin LED underbodies. I got LED and they work so much better. install was easier, they're brighter, they can make cool patterns, and if something shorts out to my car... its only 12 volts, not 10,000 (i had a 10,000 volt kit).
Here's how the neons should be wired if you need clarification...
The only other thing I can recommend is to make sure the transformer is as close to the battery as possible, and that ALL the wires (12 volt power and ground, AND all the 5,000 volt connections) are as short as possible.

Not sure if the streetglow kit is different than the one you had sandstorm, but on the streetglow kit I have seen a 20,000 volt transformer and heard of up to a 50,000 volt being used. All it did was make the neons way brighter. Could be different on the Eurolite kits though.

If the neons are not designed for the voltage they will most certainly go kaboom.
Use a higher output transformer at your own risk.
I stil suggest LEDs

I have 2 sets of underbody lights, 2 different colors, Both 5000V. They are eurolights. The way they wire up is both wires coming off are reversable, so you dont have to worry about + & -. But you cant set them up the way you suggest, and you can not up the voltage, without destoying them. They can actualy run alittle more then 5000 volts, but its only about an extra 25 v per tube.

^^ You dotn have to worry about + and - cuz the transformer makes it AC, so there is no + or -.
