i was driving today and i felt the bass cut in half
i pulled over and im getting no sound out of the left sub.......the right sub is working fine.......
i dont have them wired together.....each sub is wired independently to the amp
i switched the channels on the amp to see if it was bad channel, but still no sound out of the left sub and the right one works fine.
i pushed the left subs cone in a little but and it started vibrating and making sound........is this the sign of a blown coil or just loose wiring?
i double checked all the wiring, should i re-solder the leads?
If it was a blown voice coil can i get it fixed under warranty?......Ive only had it for a couple months but i did get them off ebay......if not, how much would it cost to fix? or is it even worth it?
any help is appreciated......thanks

not sure if this would help but i popped a 5.25 door speaker. I was driving and jamming and i saw smoke coming out of the grill, checked it out and it was sucked in. Try pushing the cone down to see it it moves easy like the working one.
If you need to solder the leads I would let the company do that to keep from voided the warranty.
Well if it applys for you amp.. check the volt sensitivity button. If it is set to 2-8v then thats = your problem., plop it to 2 and see if your problem gets fixed, lastly Use the company to repair it, do not void your warrenty.

i just went out and looked and i dont see a volt sensitivity button on my amp. but the amp seems to be working fine, i tried it out on some other speakers. its just the one sub that is giving me hell.i think i might take it to a speaker repair shop around the corner from me.

Grab a dmm/multimeter with impedance load setting and check the impedance of the sub. It should be resting at whatever the voice coils are said to be... ex dual 2 sub wired series should read in the neighboorhood of 4 ohms. If it reads something else your sub's voice coils are likely fried, or the leads going to them could be snapped, shorted or come undone - check those too.
When the system is off, and you push in the cone of the left sub, do you hear any scratching?
The under-warranty fix will depend on the nature of the subs failure and the companies warranty coverage.

i dont have a multimeter on hand, so i might have to go out and pick one up and test the sub.
i dont know if this could be a cause to the problem, but i will need to fix this as well...
