HU Install

Hey, I just recently purchased a Sony Xplod 5710 which I bought mainly for the AUX inputs, so that I can connect my Ipod. I will be connecting it with a Sosche wiring harness.I have three questions about the install.

1) The install manual states that the unit will automatically dim when the night lights are turned on, if I connect it to the car's illumination signal. How would I go about doing this?

2) Which would you suggest is the best method for wiring the harness - Solder or Crimp?

3) I need to wire a second cigarette lighter behind the dash, in order to power the ipod. However I want the power to the cigarette lighter to cut off when the ignition is cut, therefore I cannot splice into the factory lighter's wiring. Could I perhaps somehow splice into the decks power? or would this be a bad idea?

Thanks in advance.

Get one of the Scosche harness adapters for your car. That way, all you have to do is hook up the adapter to the HU and plug it in to your stock harmess plug. The illumination wire is in the radio harness.

Either will work. Solder will give the cleanest connection (don't forget the heat shrink). Crimp is quicker.

You could use a relay using the ACC wire on the HU as the trigger. That will shut it off when the ignition's off.
