Sub and Amp Choice Ohms.

Ok here the question. Im getting a Alpine MRD-M500 amp its 250 watts x1 at 4ohms RMS and 500 watts x1 at 2ohms RMS with a max or 900 watts. My question is if i can use the Type R Sub that is 4ohms with the 2ohm setting on the amp? or do i have to get the 2 ohm sub to match the amp?....btw i will only be running one type r with this amp.
Thanks Andy

To get the full potential out of that amp you will need to get a 2 ohm sub. Or two 4 ohm subs wired in parallel.

if I'm not mistaken most Type Rs are dual Voice Coil subz...A Dual 4ohm Voice Coil subwoofer can be wired to either 2ohms or 8ohms...you need to figure out what u wanna do

just get a type r that is 4ohm +4ohm thats how I have mine set up it's ran parallel. thats the best way to get the amp to run at what it's made to run at. you would be able to tune it better and get more out of your setup. I hope this helps ya out some.

Well i already have the Type R that runs 2ohm + 2 ohm....so i should be able to run this at 4 ohms.....or 1? ......i have two different apm now in mind, the JBL GTO 601.1 and the Sound Storm F1500D each would be i believe somewhere around 500 RMS at 4 ohm so they would match this sub perfectly. Any opinions on these amps or any other suggestions?
Thanks as always
