i hooked up my tach about a year and a month ago or so, and it only reads three thousand rpm (im assuming thats like...redline reading lmao) even if i switch it over to two cyl. mode. I called rk sport and the guy said their tach adaptor is made for 01 but will not work for what i have, can anyone offer some help?
im assuming he has an older model J ... ... thats just my guess... but seriously next time if you want some help dont sit there and type stupid stuff no one can understand

Sorry i screwd up i was in a hurry. i did not know it was a crime to make a flop on a question so shoot me.

it redlines to 3thounds rpm ok when. i switch it over to 2 on the back of the tach still reads the same ok . when i called rk sport he said the tach adtapter will not work for the 01 ok.
so what can i do sorry for the screw up on the first question .
is your can an auto or 5 speed?
Why not just goto the junkyard and find a cluster with a tach? You can use any cluster from a 00-05 cavalier or sunfire in your 01 cavalier. Just grab one that has the factory tach installed and it plugs in without any extra wiring. It's simple as hell!
Ooops, I forgot to mention, it will not affect your milleage. The milleage on the 00-05's are stored in the bcm.
with an auto with the car in park or N the rpm's wont go above 3000 plus it shift's around 3500 unless you have your foot on the gas.
why did you put a tach in a car thats an auto its point less and look's gay, i really hope you don't have a shift light hooked up.

Well first off you shouldn't have any problems what so ever running a tach adaptor on your 01 because if thats true " I guess my rpm window switch is magical and my nitrous comes on at 3k on its own and shuts off on its own." ( end sarcasm ) if that is what the guy told you he is an idiot. You could just go on-line to summit racing.com or another site like jegs and but a tach adaptor.
What kind of tach do you have? I have a slim mount sunpro in my 012200 and with out a tach adaptor it reads correctly when set on 2 cyl. Also where did you tap your signal for the tach? I went to the NYjbodies site and looked up the pcm pin out and tapped the pin for the tach output.
