Hey all i have been doing car isntalls, self taught, there pretty easy to do a basic install.
But i seem to be having a issue with my bro stereo, he just bought a new amp(kicker) and when i hooked it up, it emits thud/pulse sound to the sub, basically randomnly causing light thuds in the sub?(while the deck is on). usually i found this means i have a bad ground, but i ran another cable straight to the negative battery terminal, and it seemed to help but didnt stop it entirely.
Any advice on this will be helpful

I have never heard of someone running a ground wire all the way back to the battery terminal. Grounds should be short and to the point.
yeah i have done it in about 4 cars with no probs, this fixes the problem, but maybe the negative cable terminal is shot, ill run one to the drunk latch see if that helps when i get home from work
Sand the paint off an area of metal and put a screw into it for your ground, that's the best way to ground it. Using factory bolts may not give you as good of a ground and are more likely to cause ground loop noise. If you already grounded it back at the battery then you've pretty much elminated the ground as the problem. Start checking other things. Try using different RCA outputs on the deck, or try a different deck.
