Question about factory CD Player
Wednesday, January 25, 2006 3:51 AM
Hey Guys,

It's been forever since I've been on here but I have a question. I'm finally getting rid of the cavalier and I was wondering if my 1999 factory CD player would work in a 2001 S10 Blazer... I heard GM changed the factory CD players in a certain year, but I wasn't sure which year it was. Does anyone have any info? The blazer only has a radio and tape player in it so I wanted to switch them up. Is it possible?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

Jen

They changed the deck in 2000 for the Cavaliers.... I think Blazers might be the same probably around the same year. If thats true it won't work because the new decks use class 2 communication to turn them on and for the theftlock.

I don't know what year the Blazer switched to Class 2. If the plug in the dash of the Blazer is the same as the plug of the 99 Cavy, then yes it will work just fine. If it's the newer style plug, then you could still put it in there, and hook it up to a switched power source.

(The other way doesn't work... trying to put a Class 2 deck in a non-Class 2 wired car... it will never turn on).

Take a picture of the deck in the Blazer... then I can tell you for sure.

Thanks for the responses... I decided to just buy an aftermarket deck anyways.
