(General Q) HELP ME, por favor!

Hey everyone, I pm'd someone about this, but I figured I should post it on the forums to hear other people's opinions. I have a friend with a nice sound system, bass is clean, highs and lows's perfect. Basically everything's flawless at high volume. I wish mine would sound like that. I don't know what the problem is because I tried adjusting the settings from my aftermarket HU and whenever I play music (mostly rock, alternative) I can hear a rattling sound from my subs and annoying high notes coming from my speakers. What I'm thinking here is that it's either my amp's not set right, or his HU has better settings than mine. Here are the specs of both our systems, hopefully it will help. By the way, we both have the same subs.

My friend's system.

HU: AIWA CDC-R304
AMP: Sony Xplod Mono Amplifier - XMD500X 1100W, 500W RMS.
-----SUBS: 2 12's MTX 800W max, 400W RMS.
Factory speakers. He drives a Hyundai Tiburon 1997.

My system.

HU: Pioneer 50 Watts x 4 In-Dash Car CD Player DEHP7700MP.
AMP: Rockford Fosgate Punch P3002 900W (1100W RF receipt)
-----SUBS: 2 12's MTX 800W max, 400W RMS..
AMP: ROCKFORD Fosgate Punch P2002 600W.
-----SPEAKERS: Infinity "Reference Series" 9613i 6x9's 3-way 300W, 100RMS.

PS: I'm a noob about this whole audio scene, thanks!!!

What kind of car does he have? What box set-up is he/you using? All these things play into the set-up. Acoustics are different in each type of car. The same is true for box design. That being said even if you had the same system but in different ars they would sound a little diferent. Hope this helps.

i hate when that happens. my system is WAY better than my younger brothers circuit city special system. but because he's got a hatchback (VW golf) that doesn't rattle like a MOFO, his sounds like a 5000 dollar system.

i don't have any advice, just thought i'd sympathize.

GO PATS!!!

Sound deadener, plenty of it.

Bracing, sounddeadening or removing the read 6x9s.

Sound deaden the trunk.
And if all else fails, brace the trunk
