I'm expanding my system, and I plan on having pretty much all alpine type S, except maybe the rear 6 x 9's which i'll go type R.
For now, i'm mostly concerned about my front speakers because there's room for everything else. For my front spekers, right now i ahve type S's in the door, and i plan on putting type S components in the door and moving the coax's somewhere else. I wanted to know if anyone has done the 4 speakers in the front, and if you've mounted the tweater up high or what. I think i'm going to get some custom kick panels built as well to put em in, but i'd really like to see what others have done to get some ideas, or share some comments would be great!

you don't want to mix coaxials and components because it negates all the benefits of having components in the first set. and there are other set of components out there that are better than the alpines and are about the same price range.

There's no real harm in mixing; if that's what you have, that's what you have. Later if you want you can upgrade to components. They make kickpanels for our cars - q-logic makes them. Rule of thumb with components is you don't want the tweeter more than 6 inches from the woofer - it'll make the sound stage sound goofy.
hey i didnt know that 6" rule of thumb! thanks, i also have a friend building me the custom kick panels. I just figured that components fit easier in the door and its easier to build kick panels for coax speakers.
