I was wondering if anyone's ever bypassed/overrided the pcm completely to run their rad fan. I'm not concerned about throwing codes, and I've done the fan override switch.
my problem is, since converting to a holley commander (standalone) I've not been able to use the override switch, which leads me to believe that the PCM isn't powering the relay properly anymore.
can I run the 2 12V wires to an ignition source, and be able to run the fan that way? The Holley has the option of controlling the rad fan to turn on at a certain temperature, so I'd use that as the signal wire. In which case the fan, if powered and triggered, should turn on, right?
ALSO;
right now my alternator isn't charging my battery, and I believe it has to do with the same PCM issue. The PCM doesn't think the engine is running, therefore has no need to control the alternator.
is there anyway around this? can I rewire my alternator so it will charge the battery? do our alternators have regulators built in?
your idea for the ran fan will work. If you control when power is being sent to the relay, you're in full control. Find whatever source you want for the 12v, have the ground signal come from either the holley or the fan switch, and you're good. LMK if you need help running wiring and such.
thanks mr dirtbag.
can anyone else help me out with the alternator issue?
Is there someway around using the PCM?
