okay, heres the deal. i know i am supposed to search for topics and i have. ive spent the last part of 2 hours looking for any ideas.
heres the problem, i have a 99 z24. back a few months ago, more like a year and a half give or take i wanted to disable my drls. i did research and found out a couple ways to do without causing problems with other systems.
i found a site from teamforwardmotion.com and found instructions on how to disable the drls. heres the link:
http://teamforwardmotion.com/tfmtech/j-body/appearance/index.php .
heres the instructions:
1. Open the door on the fuse panel, which is located just inside the driver's door. The fuse panel door shows a map of the fuses and such.
2. There is a relay that is marked DRL. Remove this relay by simply pulling it out.
3.Look at the DRL relay and find the prongs #30 and #87a. Now get a little jumper wire and put it where the two prongs are when the relay in inserted. This will allow your high beam to work.
so i did this and i popped the fuse to my headlights. i put a new one in and my headlights worked again. replaced the drl fuse with a new one from gm. tested the fog light relay and cutoff relay, both tested good and within specs. new bulbs too. i tested the circuits continuity and made sure power was getting to the bulbs. ground is there too. i even put a new switch in. nothing worked, no fogs. i am stumped
i should have just waited to use the tech 2 in school. i feel like and idiot because i go to uti and i cant figure out my own vehicle.
if anyone has any ideas or anything, please help. like i said ive searched and searched for something on this subject and all i could find was people wanted to install fogs or something along those lines. like i said, any help would be appreciated!
thank you
chris
Checked fuses? If you've put all the relays back in and not made any other modifications.... maybe you've burned out a wire somewhere?
That mod for the DRLs sucks... use my 'one wire to cut' method... it's posted here somewhere.... or on www.lightsout.org
