I found some info that i thought i would share with you guys and hopfully become a sticky. its the how to for the "Windows Express Down" feature that we normally have for the drivers window on our J-s. As far as i know this can be adapted to ANY vehicle, make, or model.... I take no responsibility for writing this but thought i would share it with you.... so here it is....
This article describes how to adapt a power window to utilize the express down feature, whereby the window goes down fully by tapping the down window switch. A little information about the module used for this mod:
To the best of my knowledge and experience in the junkyard, these modules were only used in generation 2 Taurus/Sable vehicles. They can be found inside the driver doorskin, mounted underneath the armrest support. The Ford part number for the module is: F2DB-14B118-AB. I have heard that the dealer price for these modules is around $50, but if you grab a handful of them and tell the junkyard guy that theyre just window relays, youll get better treatment. If youre cutting it out of a junkyard car, of course you want to get as much of the harness wiring as possible.
And now for the installation information:
There are five wires coming off of the express down module. They are as follows:
(Thanks to Wizkid for the pik)
1- Motor side of down wire (red)
2- Switch side of down wire (white/black)
3 - +12V (blue/black)
4- Up wire (yellow)
5- Ground (black)
If you remove the module from the harness connector, you will be able to see the numbers stamped into the plastic.
For the switch to which you want to connect the module, use a meter or test light to identify:
- keyed +12V wire
- ground wire
- the wire that goes to +12V when you press up
- the wire that goes to +12V when you press down
Here are the connections that must now be made:
Use an inline spice to connect module #3 to the keyed +12V source.
Use an inline splice to connect module #4 to the up wire
Use an inline splice to connect module #5 to the ground
Cut the down wire, leaving yourself enough room to butt splice each end. Connect module #1 to the electric motor side of this wire. Connect module #2 to the switch side of this wire.
At this point, all of the electrical connections have been made. All that is left to you is to reassemble everything and fasten the module so that it doesnt rattle.
I hope this is helpful to all of you trying to figure it out. i also forgot to mention that youll need one module for each window tho. so youll need 3 more if you have a sedan and 1 if you have a coupe!!!

Nice find.

Interesting. I have seen them adapted to a Ford Explorer.
Here is a link to PonyPerformance.com for a kit for $29 delivered if people are having a hard time finding these.
im not seeing a link. lol. but thanks for the site.
Very cool, I'll be doing this for sure!
Damn, I pry could get those modules from a pick-a-part yard that I goto for under $5. Maybe a $1.
yeah. just tell them its a relay. theyl never know. i just need to find out what years they came in
I told u this like 15 minutes ago, lol.

aghhh. i was just gonna edit that in to the first post. ill do it a bit later
i just tried searching napa for the part. and it looks like its going to be a dealer part or junkyard part.... shouldnt be hard to find tho
i forgot that you had posted that. ive been searching online and havent found anywhere else with that kit.ive tried ebay for the part and havent foudn anythign either. i still dont think itl be hard to get ahold of. even if you have to spend 29 bucks for the kit.
this can be used with just a normal window switch? I thought the drivers side clicked or something when you pushed it down all the way, and the passenger side didn't.

Ya, on the stock driver side switch there is an actual kind of switch that switches when you push it all the way down.
This module allows it to work with regular switches. I'm still trying to figure it out how it works to know when you push it all the way down.
When wojo comes down the 3rd, we're gonna try to grab as many of these as we can and try it out and while we're at the yard, i'll try to figure out how they work.
But ya, this module is supposed to make it work with regular switches.

i don't see how it would work with a normal switch, you either push it, or you don't, lol. unless you have to hold it down for a second, but then you might as well just roll it all the way down, lol

it works. how else would it work in the cars they come out of. im not 100% sure how they work. but when you push the button to roll the windows down, it sends a signal to that module to keep sending a 12+ signal to the window motor. and when the window is all the way down it pops a built in self resetting circuit breaker. im actually 100% sure thats how it works.but weel find out for sure on the third when me and seth hit the yard
personally i would add express up to my windows if these things are so cheap.....might want to tackle that
i think its a great idea.i would assume if someone had actuators that open there trunk could use this module for that to. but im not 100% sure on that. someone would have to try it.

so how would you roll your window halfway down? roll it all the way down the back up again?

you just hold it.....the quick tap activiates the express feature
exactly. it will work EXACTLY like the stock feature. its just built in a different way.
these express window modules work, by implimenting a bimetal spring. they are basically a relay. except that wen u put power to it, the contact sticks (electromagnetic property ) and wen it get enuff resistance (from the window motor stopping or hittin "up" on the switch) it heats one side of the bi-metal spring, and pulls the contact back from the connector
thank you. so bassicaly i was correct in my explanation. thanks for the more in depth detail everyone was looking for. i still gotta get one and see how well they work
Why not buy a DEI 530T window module for $41 and express both of your windows UP and DOWN, and have the ability to roll them up or down with your remote!
