Ok im buying
this case because its the size of a cd player in width and height, and also buying
this monitor for my car. I want to stick both of them in the center where my radio is now. They are both about 2 in high and i want to put the monitor on top and the computer on the bottom. Has anyone gone with this setup before? I've been reading around and only heard of putting the computer in the trunk or under the seat or in the glove box or something. I want to be able to play dvd's or save music to my comp so i need the dvd/cd drive to be convenient, thats why i want to put it where my radio is at. Any suggestions?
I know some people have moved there HVAC unit to the center console. So that could be one Idea, could try putting the case into the center console.

If the case is small enough, you should be able to make it fit all in the stock radio space.
I'll be doing kinda the same thing. I'll have my alpine headunit on the bottom and the screen (like the one you posted) on the top. Then the computer will most likely go in the glove box and i'll have usb ports and a cd/dvd drive somewhere else.
It's gonna have to be all custom, but I think you should be able to make them both fit in the stock space. Get the measurements for both parts and compare them to the stock space.

10" deep, you better get out the saw!
haha yea i know it is pretty deep, but i wanted it in the middle so that way if a friend brings a c d i liek i just pop it in and save it, i guess it more of a convenience thing is why i want it in the middle with the monitor
Good luck with that.

also im going to build it and install Windows xp professional and what power adapter do i need to be able to plug it up to my house wall socket so i can get everything installed before putting it in?
Just use your house computer one.
I assume the one ur gettin will run off a positive and ground 12v.
Open ur home case up and find an unused molex connector (has 4 wires going to it). The yellow wire is +12V and the black is -12V. Either cut off the molex connector, or just stick the wires in the connector.
Just be careful so that you don't short out the wires or it may cause problems to your home computer.

ohhh i see.....awesome thanks. I know this a long shot but i thought it would be a fun project to do. Once i get my carputer built and all i want to open up my garage door clicker and solder whatever needs to be solder'd to a serial connector so i can hook it up to my serial port. From there i intend to find a way to write a module in Meedio to open my garage door. Haha lazy i know, why not just click the button. Well i just thought it would be an interesting project if anyone wants to help. Thanks
Ya, i'd be willing to help.
I've never heard of meedio before.
When you get started, hit me up on email or IM.

Never heard of Meedio?!?! Its probably the most customizable media center software around. You can't buy or download it from www.meedio.com anymore because Yahoo bought them out, but its pretty cool. You can make or edit the themes you use. Let me know if you wanna know more about it or just go to www.meedio.com
