breaking in new subs..

I bought two brand new Sony Xplod 12's off my friend cause he couldnt fit em in his car (he already had 2) neway...how should i go about breaking them in and how long usually will it take? i had never heard of breaking in subs until yesterday so..ne suggestions?

just dont turn the system way up ... what kind of amp r u runnin to them ....i left my treios 18's bout 1/4 the way up for bout a week than turned it up

im runnin a sony 1200 watt amp to em..and i plan on replacing my speakers sometime in the near future

You don't have to break in subs anymore, this isn't 1992. Second, as soon as you "break in" the sony's, they melt. Simultaneously.

i thought Kicker's were the only subs you really need to break in...

the first gen L7s were recommended to be broken in. but again same thing.

ok thanks a lot guys..and as far as amps..an 800 watt amp will run these fine correct?

yeah my kickers comps really needed to be broken in when i had them. and so did my poweracoustik just in case neone needs to know

with my stroker, after about 4-6 hours of play time it was noticeably louder. don hebig told me it would. why, i'm not sure (probably just loosened the suspension a bit), but he was right. there was really no break in period - it had tones at volume 11 through it from day one. it just got louder after the first few hours of abuse.

the only way i can see someone blowing a new sub without "breaking it in" is if there was something wrong with it in the first place.
