Alright i just recently installed a HU in a friends 2000 cavalier.Well every-time she sets the radio settings and then turns it off and then on again they go back to the 87.7 station.
I know its something with the memory but don't know what,everything else works fine but just this.
its a Sony GDX-GT400
I have the constant/acc both together and fused at the accesory wire and the ground to the body

To my understanding her radio doesn't have a memory wire.
the main wires are just like most HU'S
Black-ground
red-acc
yellow constant
then theres
blue
Light blue
orange/white
as you know the 2000 up gm's don't have a 12v in the radio plug and i told her not to spend $100.00 on that metra unit to keep her chimes and give a 12v for the new radio.
so i bought 2000-05-06 think it said 06 harness for $15.
hooked all the speaker leads from the harness on the sony to the harness.Grounded it to the body and then took the red/yellow twisted them together and soldered them to her Acces wire witch i fused.
now im thinking maybe somehow that acces wire that i taped into is resting her presets.
there where two accessy wires,and the one I tap'ed into gave me a 12v in the run and 12v in the acces the other one gave me 12v only in the run and not the acc.

You should have left the yello wire connected in the harness adapter. The yellow is constant power which keeps all the settings. The only wire the needs extended is the red switched power wire. Take the yellow wire and connect it back to the constant power wire in the radio harness and you'll be all set.

No luck man i just tryed that and the same thing it just keeps eraseing them

He is right. The red and yellow are backwards. One has to see 12 volts all the time, and the other (red one) has to see 12 volts only when the key is on.
