Elemental Designs STOLE my soul!

and killed my mother.
All I have to say is dear jesus.
I just got their nine 2k, and um two subs, dont know which ones, im sure Alex will be more than happy to chime in here, and a custom box from them.

Let me tell you something first.
I HATE BASS. Nothing in the whole entire sound quality world pisses me off more than really overloaded bass that is just bad sounding, in a bad box, with bad subs, and a bad amp.

I currently am running a full polk momo system with amp and 6.5 front 6x9 rear. And i was extremely happy with this setup, and some bass was missing though, and that was starting to get on my nerves.
Plus probably one of my all time favorite songs Lost To Apathy by Dark Tranquility for the love of God would not just play right, always sounded like crap (not cd checked on other systems).

Then i saw the Elemental designs holy @!#$ post, and decided why the hell not. Through the process Alex also convinced me to get some 6500 comps, but those are not in yet as no time.

So now to the install.

Other than me being a complete idiot at first, Alex was totally helpfull in getting me wired up and set correctly (you deal with half ass subs (erm sub contractors), all day and see how much into wiring you are).

Then I decided to turn to my album of the year which is *drum roll* The Gathering-Home.

I think i messed in my pants harder than the first time I jumped on my 98 ws6 (upgrade from like a 90's camry). Sub output volume was set to max, and the bass volume thingie was set to +2 out of 10.

Everything was so smooth, fluid and balanced. The bass was in no way shape or from overpowering. It just blended so smoothly with the rest of the audio. It filled in all those missing gaps from before. I did not have the generic THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP that I usually asscoiate with subs, just a nice even sound.

So after enjoying that album, I hoped over to some Arch Enemy, and WTF.
Their cover of symphony of destruction came up first, and the damn car exploded.
Everything I had in the car jumped about a good 3 inches, and a giant gust of wind hit me as well as a funny feeling.

So then I sinned (father forgive me), and I went and immediatly download some rap, though the only rap I could think of was Stan by eminem, and that kanye west song jesus walks. Never mind its not music so much as poetry, but the bass @!#$ kicks you in the chest. No way in hell do I dare turn these up more than 3/4 way. My bloody side view mirrors shake so much, that they are impossible to use on the freeway.

Back to the point, ED now has my soul, along with Fbodys, LS1's, and Swedish Death Metal.

Listening to my standard fair (Arch Enemy, Opeth, Kalmah, The Gathering, Iron Maiden, Dark Tranquility, etc), the bass is smooth and tuned just right. Cant here any boom boom at all just realyl clean even sound.

Put somethign on like rap, and the car feels downright unsafe.

Pics to come once I unload them off my camera.

Oh yeah box build is top notch. Pics will more than show that.

Seriously buy their subs, they are ungodly. I have heard the polk momo subs in my car before (borrowed from friend), and they dont sound nearly as good as ED stuff.

Now if the 6500's can get Lost To Apathy to play right, does anyone over there need any organs donated??

it's good to hear that eD stuff is good with hardcore/heavy metal. that's mostly what I listen to. I've been talking with Alex some, and I'm now going to go with eD components, amps and subs as soon as I can gather the money.
thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review. The subs are a pair of 13kv2 D4s on a nine.2x. The box was 3 cubes tuned to 36.5hz i beleive (customers request on the tuning)

Glad that you are happy with them. Cant wait to see what you think about the edi 6500s.

for someone claiming he didnt want overpowering bass output, that tuning is a bit high... sounds like someone is a closet bass head lol BTW Alex, my 13k is sounding wonderfull and running strong!! only problem is when i load my equipment in my car, im using the back seat more than the trunk, because the grill off my JL wouldnt fit the eD. not that that is you guys\' fault

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn

actually the bass is really really low, i wish i could somehow show people how low it is. On alot of songs, you barely can tell there is bass there unless it is turned off.

Oh yeah going to be installgin the edi 6500 hopefully this sunday, so ill let you know how it goes, probably pics in that thread as well
